Svitlana Biliakovska
About
Hi, dear potential students! My name is Svitlana. I’m a Berklee College of Music graduate and full-tuition scholarship recipient with over nine years of teaching experience. Music has been a part of my life since the age of five, when I began studying classical piano and singing in choirs. That early foundation shaped my lifelong dedication to music. I grew up in a family of educators and began tutoring at just 14, teaching music to children. From the very beginning, I found deep fulfillment in inspiring others and sharing what I love. I hold a degree in Choir Conducting from Stanislav Liudkevych Music Professional College in Lviv, Ukraine, where I was trained to lead vocal ensembles and work closely with singers of various skill levels. Additionally, I studied classical piano and vocal performance as part of my coursework, building a well-rounded musical foundation. Through conducting, I learned how to adapt to a wide range of personalities and find meaningful ways to connect and collaborate with others. Later, I moved to the U.S. to pursue a degree in Contemporary Writing and Production at Berklee. There, I expanded my skills as a composer, arranger, producer, songwriter, and performer - working across genres and collaborating with artists from all over the world. I teach in English and Ukrainian, and offer lessons both online and in person (North Hollywood). I would be happy to work with you whether you’re just starting out or returning to music later in life. Everyone has a voice worth hearing, and I’d be honored to help you discover and express yours!
Teaching Style
As a teacher, my biggest goal is to help students truly enjoy the art of music - whether you're pursuing it as a hobby, preparing for performances, or aiming for a professional path.
I believe that everyone is capable of making music. With the right guidance, support, and encouragement, your voice (both physical and emotional) can grow into something uniquely yours.
I often step into the role of a mentor, creating a safe and inspiring space where you can develop confidence, self-belief, and artistic identity. Whether you're a complete beginner or a returning creative, I’ll meet you with warmth, flexibility, and genuine care. Our lessons will be shaped around who you are!
Curriculum
My typical lesson is divided into two parts:
-
The first half focuses on foundational work — breath support, vocal warm-ups, and technique-building exercises.
-
The second half is dedicated to applying those skills to a song or piece we've chosen together, helping you bring emotion, storytelling, and authenticity to your performance.
I also incorporate music theory into lessons depending on your goals and needs. Some students want to strengthen technical skills and learn to read sheet music, while others want to connect to their voice for personal expression or creativity. My method always adapts to where you are and where you want to go.
For subjects like composition, arranging, conducting, music theory, and production, I primarily work with students who have some prior experience or foundational knowledge in music - but I’m also open to working with beginners, teaching both essential music theory and the subject you're interested in. All of these subjects require an individual approach and flexibility, which I offer. I adapt the curriculum based on your personal goals, experience, and learning style, tailoring each lesson to meet you where you are and support your growth step by step!
