Tammam Odeh
About
Hello! My name is Tammam Odeh, and I’m a passionate music educator, harpist, and guitarist with over eight years of teaching experience. I hold a Master of Music degree from SUNY Fredonia, where I specialized in harp performance and also studied classical guitar. As a professional musician, I have had the honor of performing as a soloist and in ensembles, including performances with the Syrian Symphony Orchestra at Bard College and the Fredonia Conservatory Orchestra. I have also performed many recitals on both harp and guitar, showcasing a wide range of musical styles. Additionally, I am a member of the prestigious guitar quartet at Fredonia’s School of Music, where we explore advanced chamber repertoire and push the boundaries of guitar ensemble performance.
My Teaching Approach
Whether you're just beginning or looking to refine your advanced technique, I tailor lessons to fit your individual goals, interests, and learning style. My teaching is student-centered and encouraging, focused on building a strong foundation while keeping music joyful and expressive.
For younger students, I emphasize creative engagement, positive reinforcement, and gradual skill-building. For adult learners, I focus on goals such as relaxation, self-expression, or mastery of repertoire. I offer a structured curriculum when needed, but I’m equally happy to adapt lessons to incorporate your favorite pieces or interests.
I teach:
-
Harp (pedal and lever): All levels
-
Guitar (classical, acoustic): Beginner to intermediate
-
Music Theory & Ear Training: Beginner to advanced
Teaching Style
I have over eight years of experience teaching harp and guitar to students of all ages, ranging from young beginners to adult learners. I earned my Master of Music degree from SUNY Fredonia, where I specialized in harp performance and also studied classical guitar. As a performer, I’ve had the privilege of working with renowned ensembles such as the Syrian Symphony Orchestra at Bard College and the Fredonia Conservatory Orchestra.
I’ve given numerous solo and ensemble recitals on both harp and guitar, and I am currently a member of the prestigious guitar quartet at the Fredonia School of Music. These experiences have helped me develop a strong, professional foundation on both instruments, which I bring into every lesson. In addition to performance, I’ve also presented music workshops and academic lectures, contributing to music education beyond the private lesson setting.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is supportive, adaptable, and student-centered. I focus on building a strong technical foundation while encouraging musicality, expression, and creativity. Every student learns differently, so I tailor my approach to suit individual learning styles, goals, and interests—whether that means preparing for auditions, learning a favorite piece, or simply enjoying the process of making music.
I maintain high professional standards while creating a warm and encouraging learning environment. For younger students, I use a structured yet engaging method that fosters curiosity and confidence. For adult learners, I emphasize clear goals, effective practice strategies, and musical enjoyment. Above all, I aim to make music a meaningful and empowering part of my students’ lives.
