About

Hello, my name is Tijana and I am a professional Harpist. I have recently relocated back to Melbourne after living in London, Amsterdam and Serbia for the past couple of years.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Harp from the Faculty of Music Art in Belgrade, Serbia; a Master's degree in Harp from the Faculty of Music Art in Belgrade, Serbia and a Master's degree in Harp from the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia.

During my freelance career in Australia, I have performed extensively as a solo, orchestral and chamber musician.
I perform regularly with orchestras in Australia and have performed extensively with Orchestra Victoria and performed in their collaborations with the Tokyo ballet, The Australian Ballet, Victorian Opera, etc. as well as performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO).
While living in Brisbane, I had performed regularly with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra (QSO) in many of their symphonic concerts, as well as their collaborations with the Royal Ballet, the Bolshoi Ballet, La Scala Ballet and Queensland Ballet.
I have also performed as Principal Harpist with the Opera Australia Orchestra at the Sydney Opera House and West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO).

I love to teach and have always maintained a busy teaching studio alongside my performing career.

Teaching Style

Teaching the harp has always been a great passion of mine and I teach students of all ages and levels - from 5 to 95, beginners to postgraduate students. I am a patient and understanding teacher and I customise my teaching based on individual student needs.

I am happy to take on students who have never played an instrument before, but am just as comfortable and experienced at teaching students who would like to change their technique or learn a more comfortable way of playing that can facilitate what they want to play on the harp.

Curriculum

I can prepare you for exams (ABRSM, Trinity, AMEB, etc.), competitions and auditions or just for the fun and enjoyment of learning. I can teach both classical and contemporary (pop, jazz, cinematic, etc.) pieces as well as music theory, which I incorporate into harp lessons.
