About
Tom Krumm is a performer, teacher, composer and arranger who specializes in versatility. Growing up with classical training while being immersed in the world of traditional music, Tom has developed a knack and a passion for learning the intricacies of different styles of music. Tom spent his childhood learning and developing at the Ashokan Fiddle and Dance Camps under the tutelage of acclaimed fiddler and composer of the GRAMMY winning piece Ashokan Farewell, Jay Ungar. Throughout his childhood, Tom was exposed to music of all types including Classical, Gypsy Jazz, Swing, Old Time, Celtic and much more. Continuing his education at the Berklee College of Music, Tom had the opportunity to expand his musical horizons even further while studying with spectacular professors and peers.
Teaching Style
Tom Krumm teaches the violin, guitar, and mandolin at any level and in a variety of styles. Tom believes that a student's interest in what they're playing and how they're improving is imperative to their success on the instrument. Playing an instrument should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience, and it shouldn't feel like a chore. During his lessons, Tom mixes fun in with practical knowledge and technique in order to promote growth in his students and a desire to work to attain their goals on their instrument.
