About

Una Karina Harders was born in northern Germany. She went to the United States to train as a singer and graduated with honors from the Conservatory at the State University of New York in Purchase. This lyric soprano commands an unusually wide repertoire of Lieder and sacred songs. With grace and authority she combines classical and contemporary works in her recitals, spanning the entire classical song literature from the Renaissance to the 20th Century, as well as offering Broadway, Gospel und Jazz.

Una Karina Harders has won many prizes and was an award-winner with the Richard-Wagner-Association-Germany and the Schuler Foundation Germany, among others. She has performed to great acclaim at many different locations, such as Lincoln Center New York, the Arena auf Schalke in Germany and the Culturewheel in Cairo, as well as at festivals, in concert halls and churches all over Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the U.S.A. At the Ruhr-Marathon she thrilled tens of thousands of listeners with her beautiful and enthusiastic singing at the GM car plant in Bochum. Another highlight was the triumphantly received concert performance at the Eisenhower Park in New York. Una Karina Harders sees her music as a universal language with which she wishes to move and connect people from all walks of life.

She is constantly searching for new ways to interpret the classical vocal literature and to combine classical singing traditions with other art forms or musical styles. Collaborations with jazz musicians or world music performers, as well as with visual artists, writers or dancers hold a special place in her „songs without borders“-programs. The soprano worked with visual artist and activist Issa Niaphaga in New York and studied sculpture and performance art at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam as well as the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

Whether Una Karina Harders sings Christmas-songs at a farmer’s barn, sacred hymns in a cathedral, Jazz ballads or Baroque songs in an old factory hall: her innovative interpretations of classical songs and her unique musical versatility continue to impress and enchant audiences again and again. Expect to hear more of her imaginative, inspired work at upcoming performances.

After many years in the USA, Una Karina Harders lives in Regensburg, Germany, today and teaches students from all over the world in her studio and online.

Curriculum

Based on my exquisite voice training, my many years of stage as well as teaching experience, we first warm up our bodies with a set of physical and breathing exercises. Afterwards, we use simple and kind vocalizes to warm up the voice. Thereafter, we work on creating your very own repertoire or work on pieces that you wish to work on.

We build your breath support, expand your vocal range, your capacity for clear and clean enunciation, musical excellence, as well as artistic expression. Most importantly, we will  build your confidence and feeling of reliability and security, building a technique that you can rely upon under all circumstances - and that allows you to sing the music which you wish to sing with utmost excellence and individual expression!
