About

Hello! I’m Valerio, nice to meet you!

I’m a Vocal Coach, singer/songwriter, and performer with many years of experience teaching and performing internationally and I can’t wait to accompany you on your vocal journey.

I have a holistic approach to singing and the voice, keeping in mind that our voice is deeply connected with the rest of our body and with our mind and feelings. The voice is a very delicate instrument and every minimum change in our physiology can affect it. That’s why we need to learn how to master its movements and dynamics, while being aware of how the different parts of our bodies and minds can affect the way we sing.

My singing background is very diverse and covers different musical genres and teaching methods, including Estill Voice Model  , MVT (Modern Vocal Training) and Complete Vocal Technique (CVT).
I have studied singing in Italy and in the UK, approaching different genres, including pop, folk, musicals, jazz and opera. I have also studied piano for many years and I have a diploma in Music Theory, Harmony and Sight Reading at A. Casella Conservatory of L’Aquila, Italy.

I have lived in the UK for many years, performing and expanding my knowledge of singing by studying Estill Voice Model and Complete Vocal Technique. From London I released 3 albums and performed all over Europe, and now I have listeners in every continent. In 2021 I returned to Italy, where keep helping singers from all over the world achieve their singing goals, and I keep travelling to perform my songs.

I am a certified Modern Vocal Training vocal coach and I’ve studied Estill Voice Model and Complete Vocal Technique. I am also passionate about psychology, yoga, mindfulness and spirituality and am currently studying to become a professional counselor.

I’ve spent more than 10 years helping singers, and I can help you too!  Whether you are an experienced artist looking to break your own boundaries or an aspiring singer who are taking the first steps in music, I can help you achieve a balanced and healthy singing voice. This will lead to greater vocal flexibility and agility, longevity and stamina, transforming your voice and shaping it in every way that you want!

I teach ONLINE or in person (in Milan).

Teaching Style

Diverse Repertoire: Versatility is key to becoming an outstanding singer. My coaching covers a wide range of musical genres—from pop and jazz to musical theater and rock—so you can develop a well-rounded voice that’s confident and adaptable. With my experience as a songwriter and performer, I incorporate a variety of techniques and styles to help you unlock your potential and build a strong stage presence.

Holistic Approach: Our voice, mind, body, and emotions are deeply connected, and changes in one affect the others. I take a holistic approach to teaching, focusing on the voice as part of the whole: your voice, body, and mind. Using this comprehensive approach will help you become a more conscious singer. In addition to vocal technique, we’ll address the mental, physical, psychological, and emotional aspects of singing, all of which are crucial for balanced vocal development and achieving your goals. These elements are intertwined, and when we understand this connection, we can fully explore our potential.

My lessons are open to singers of all levels—whether you’re a professional, advanced, or beginner. Whether you want to grow as a singer, musician, or artist, feel confident on stage, or simply sing for fun, my lessons are designed to meet your individual needs. There’s no one-size-fits-all program. Each lesson is structured around you and adapted to your level and goals.

If you’ve never sung before, don’t worry! I’ll help you explore your voice and develop it with exercises suited to your current abilities. If you already know what you want to focus on, you’ll take the lead in deciding what to work on. I’ll provide feedback and equip you with the tools to improve, planning your practice in a way that’s efficient and tailored to your learning style.

Curriculum

During our lessons, I’ll help you diagnose vocal imbalances and find ways to improve your voice. We’ll set clear goals and explore new methods to use your voice how you want while keeping it healthy. With a range of techniques (such as Estill Voice Model, Modern Vocal Technique, and Complete Vocal Technique), we’ll discover the exercises and approaches that best suit you and help you achieve the sound you desire. Singing lessons will push you out of your comfort zone and help you realize that your voice has unlimited potential—it can be shaped into whatever you want it to be.

Vocal health is a core part of my teaching, but technique alone doesn’t make a great singer. We’ll also work on developing your unique sound, style, and artistic choices. I can help you with performance skills and interpretation, which are where your personality shines through. Together, we’ll analyze what a song needs and how you can make it your own, so you feel confident on stage and connect with your audience without barriers or blocks.

Beyond specific vocal techniques, I understand that singing is just one part of a bigger picture. Our voice, mind, body, and emotions are all interconnected, and changes in one area affect the others. My teaching takes into account these mental, physical, psychological, and emotional aspects, which are crucial to being balanced and reaching your full potential—not just as a singer but as an artist.

Singing lessons will also help you strengthen other musical skills like rhythm, improvisation, and music theory. As a pianist and guitarist, I can also help you develop your skills on those instruments so you can use them in your vocal practice or to accompany yourself on stage.

Singing is fun for everyone, and being a "good" singer isn’t something you’re born with. It’s shaped by your life experiences and how much you’ve allowed yourself to explore your artistic side. Some people are naturally more exposed to music, but everyone can improve and develop their voice with the right guidance. Your “natural” voice is simply the result of years of conditioning from your environment, but it’s entirely up to you to shape and change it.

Valerio Lysander is a chamber pop singer/songwriter from Rome, Italy. He moved to the UK in 2013, where he refines his art and publishes three albums. Since then, he has built his career in the UK and abroad and has performed in the UK, France, Scotland, the Netherlands and Italy with his pop/folk songs influenced by classical music with quirky, original, optimist and honest lyrics, looking at the world with a full emotional spectrum.

His first self funded EP Tidal Mental Head marked the beginning of a career that in 2016 would take him to be among the 10 nominees for Best Male in the Best of British Unsigned Awards and to have a new single, Ryan, broadcasted by BBC Introducing. In 2017 he was among the finalists of the Coffee Music Project and Pride’s Got Talent, and performed in Trafalgar Square for Pride in London and on the main stage of Manchester Pride.

In 2018, a new track about the hardship of being a musician in modern society, If You Were Me You Would Be, was broadcast on BBC6 by Tom Robinson. In the same year, he performed in many European cities, including gigs for different Gay Prides and Sofar Sounds. On 21st July 2018, he released a new 13 track album, “We Are Like Coloured Moths Towards The Sunlight”, which explores the different struggles humans have to go through in their quest towards happiness, and in 2019 a new EP “When the Clouds Will Gather I Will Drink the Rain”, both of which have had singles featured on many national radios, including the BBC. In 2019 he has kept performing in Europe, with gigs in the UK, Italy, France, Germany and Norway.

With listeners all over the world, Valerio moves back to Italy in 2021, where he is in the finals of Musicultura 2022, Roma Music Festival 2021 and Premio Lunezia 2021, but he keeps his British roots, getting to the finals of Pride’s Got Talent in 2022 and performing for Pride in London in the same year.
