Victoria Peter
About
I am a passionate and dedicated music educator, vocal coach, and songwriter with a strong background in both music and academic training. I currently teach vocal performance, piano, and music theory, helping students develop strong technical foundations while also building confidence and personal expression. My work is rooted in patience, clarity, and a deep commitment to each student’s growth, whether they are complete beginners or more advanced learners seeking refinement.
I studied Law (LLB) at the University of Buea, Cameroon, from 2020 to 2024, an experience that strengthened my communication, analytical thinking, and discipline, skills I now apply effectively in my teaching practice. Alongside my academic studies, I pursued formal music training at Tenstrings Music Institute, where I developed practical and theoretical expertise in music performance and instruction. I am also the founder of Tori School of Music, where I have built a structured learning environment for students of different ages and skill levels.
In addition to teaching, I am an active songwriter and music practitioner. I have written over five original songs, currently in development and preparation for recording. I also serve as the Music Director and Coordinator of the PPCM Youth Choir, a role I have held for over two years, where I oversee rehearsals, vocal arrangements, and musical direction. These combined experiences allow me to bring real-world musical insight, leadership, and creativity into every lesson I teach.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is patient, supportive, and highly personalized. I focus on creating a relaxed and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable exploring their voice and musical abilities without fear or pressure. I believe that steady progress comes from understanding fundamentals clearly, so I break down vocal and musical techniques into simple, practical steps that are easy to apply.
I adapt each lesson to the student’s individual goals, learning pace, and musical interests. Whether a student is learning for personal enjoyment, worship, performance, or skill development, I meet them where they are and guide them step by step toward improvement. My approach emphasizes consistency, confidence-building, and practical application, helping students see real results over time.
Curriculum
My teaching method combines vocal warm-ups, breath support exercises, pitch training, tone development, ear training, and applied singing or instrumental practice. Lessons typically begin with technique-building exercises and gradually move into guided practice using songs or musical pieces suited to the student’s level and goals. For piano and music theory students, I focus on reading skills, foundational theory concepts, and hands-on practice.
I encourage students to practice regularly between lessons and to approach learning with curiosity and patience. Progress is tracked gradually, ensuring that skills are properly developed rather than rushed. This structured yet flexible method allows students to grow confidently and sustainably in their musical journey.
