About

It's hard to put into words how much music means to me. I am sure I am not the only one that feels this way. I fell in love with the drums at a very young age and truly never looked back.

To this day, there is nothing quite like sitting behind a kit and creating music. Since becoming a "pro" I have been blessed to be a part of so many wonderful experiences, both in the studio and on the road. I feel that I am playing my best music today. I think it’s a combination of loving where I live, being comfortable with who I am as a person and truly knowing the type of player I am. My only goal, while playing, is to make the song feel as good as possible and to make the listener move. If my playing has you tapping your foot (on 2 and 4, please! haha) and rocking back and forth, I have done my job.

I have experience in tracking, editing and mixing along with producing and programming. Some of my favorite projects have been where I track live drums and then program sampled drums on top of and around my live performance. There is something so cool about combining the two worlds to make something unique.

When teaching, I want to approach it as if I am teaching myself. In a way I am because there is always something new to learn, even if you feel you "know it" I want to take all my knowledge and pay it forward whoever I can. If I can be the inspiration for an aspiring drummer, I am honored.

Teaching Style

My teaching style has always been based around practical learning. I try to teach and encourage the way I would want to be taught and encouraged. Sometimes the best thing you can do is just listen to the student and what he/she wants to do. It is my job to keep it fun and uplifted while giving them the direction to help them grow as players. I do not remember all the lessons from my youth, but I remember how my instructors made me feel. I want to focus on that.

Curriculum

This will be based around what the student is looking to learn and how advanced they are. I want to give a good foundation for those who need it, while helping more advanced players stretch out into new areas of learning. For example, you may know how to play, but do you know how to write a chart for a session? Do you know the proper terminology for touring and studio work?

For beginners, I would focus on the basics and making it fun while providing them media/text to help them down the path they express interest in going down.
