Yuriy Gusev
About
✨Hello!
My name is Yuriy, and I am happy to welcome you at my piano studio! I am a performing pianist and private piano teacher.
Lessons take place on an Estonia concert grand piano with excellent sound. The grand piano mechanism is best suited for learning.
The best way to start lessons is to get a free trial lesson.
🎹 Work Experience
I have been working for over ten years with children (from 4 years old) and adults. I work with those who play for themselves, for their own pleasure or development, as well as those preparing professionally for a future career, from beginner to advanced levels.
I have successfully prepared students for piano exams in music schools, colleges, and universities, including under foreign systems (e.g., ABRSM).
With students who play for pleasure, we work for extended periods at a comfortable pace, delving into the areas of music that interest them. I help adults develop a good level of piano technique.
I have experience with children and adults with various developmental disabilities (ASD, ADHD, disabilities).
🎼 I can help with:
- Learning your favorite pieces
- Supporting your interest and helping to strengthen motivation
- Learning various genres (classical, pop, rock, jazz, boogie-woogie, etc.)
- Mastering all types of piano technique
- Music reading, music theory, ear training
- Preparation for professional exams or performances
💻 Online Work
I also work online. Everything is the same as in-person, thanks to detailed explanations, demonstrations from different angles (by using more than one webcam), and studio-quality sound.
Teaching Style
In my work, I use an individual approach, delving deeply into the nuances of each student, based on their goals and desires. I select a teaching style that will best help the student at that moment. Styles may change as the student changes.
The format, pieces, genres, learning pace, and depth of material are all decided individually. You learn with the music that you like.
One of the key aspects I focus on is supporting the student's interest and developing their motivation. In connection with this, lessons are held in a comfortable, respectful psychological atmosphere without pressure, where the student can relax and be themselves, without fear of judgment from the teacher.
In lessons, I use supplementary materials such as poems, paintings, and sculptures to enrich the student's understanding of music.
Lessons are adapted for age. Children usually prefer a game-based approach: minimum theory and more playing.
