About
I am currently the principal horn player of the Denver Chamber Orchestra and 4th horn player of the Stratus Chamber Orchestra. I have appeared with other ensembles along the Colorado Front Range including the Longmont Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Chorale Orchestra and Colorado Symphony Orchestra. I have graduated with a Bachelors in Music in Horn Performance from the Lamont School of Music in Denver, Colorado. I have been teaching young students for four years and have a plethora of experience in the online space.
As a recording artist, I have appeared as solo horn on BetterWeather's debut album titled Wayfare. I am currently in the process of recording horn on their second album, Next Time. BetterWeather has performed all around Colorado and performed on tour in the San Fransisco Bay Area in 2023. I have participated in a number of chamber group outreach concerts to the Denver community, playing in the Lamani Winds, Lamont Woodwind Quintet and Colorado Symphony Horn Trio.
As a young professional, I have had the honor of being invited to various summer orchestral festivals around the US. I performed as a member of the Texas Festival Orchestra in Round Top, Texas in 2023 and 2024, along with various Brevard Music Center ensembles in 2022. My playing recently went international, with my performances as a member of the Vienna Summer Music Festival in Austria.
Teaching Style
Having mostly worked with beginners on the French Horn, I spend a lot of time working with my students on basic fundamental exercises, originating from the New York style Caruso method of horn playing, made popular by the Juilliard horn professor Julie Landsman. I believe that this intensive fundamental work provides a great basis for stability and ease when performing ensemble and solo repertoire. Etudes from the Kopprasch book and Maxime Alphonse books are perfect for young performers to develop their musical and technical voices on the horn.
In addition to specific methods I use with my students, I also like to approach students on a personal level, catering my teaching to their specific needs as a student. This can include changing our approach to problem solving in lessons and changing how I speak with the student one-on-one to better fit their personality style.
