About

Hi, I’m James. I’m a professional tenor vocalist, Guest Entertainer, and theatrical performer with extensive experience in cruise entertainment, national and international touring, regional theatre, and professional concert productions.

I currently perform as a Guest Entertainer with American Cruise Lines, presenting my own full-length solo productions for audiences aboard multiple vessels. My current work includes developing and performing complete concert programs spanning classical crossover, musical theatre, pop, rock, standards, and music of the 1950s and ’60s.

Previously, I worked as a Production Vocalist with Princess Cruises, performing professionally produced shows as part of the ship’s entertainment cast.

My cruise career also includes three contracts as Lead Male Vocalist with Silversea Cruises, where I performed repertoire ranging from Motown and ABBA to operatic and classical material.

My professional stage credits include international tours of The Wizard of Oz and Working My Way Back to You, along with national touring productions including Cirque Dreams Holidaze and December ’63.

Selected musical theatre credits include The Beast in Beauty and the Beast, Pharaoh in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Lt. Joseph Cable in South Pacific, Rapunzel’s Prince in Into the Woods, and Jack Seward in Dracula the Musical. I have also performed with organizations including the Arvada Center for the Performing Arts, The Rev Theatre Company, Aurora Fox Performing Arts Center, Candlelight Dinner Playhouse, Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, and American Music Theatre.

Teaching Style

My teaching style is supportive, direct, and highly personalized. I want students to feel comfortable experimenting with their voice while also receiving clear, practical feedback that helps them improve.

I focus on building confidence without ignoring the details that make a performance stronger. I encourage students to take risks, make mistakes, and learn through doing. Rather than trying to make every singer sound the same, I work to bring out the individual qualities of each student’s voice and personality.

Because my background is rooted in professional performance, I also bring a strong stage and storytelling perspective to lessons. I want students to understand not only how to sing a song, but how to communicate it, connect with an audience, and feel confident performing it.

My lessons are relaxed and conversational, but still focused and goal-oriented. I adapt my approach based on the student’s experience level, musical interests, and specific goals.

Curriculum

My teaching method combines vocal technique with practical performance application. I begin by identifying each student’s current strengths, challenges, vocal range, and goals, then tailor lessons around those needs.

Lessons typically include targeted warm-ups and exercises for breath support, resonance, tone, range, diction, and vocal control. We then apply those techniques directly to songs the student is working on so that technical improvement connects to real performance.

I also work on phrasing, interpretation, confidence, stage presence, microphone technique, and communicating the meaning of a song. When appropriate, I use recordings, accompaniment tracks, lyric sheets, and sheet music to support the learning process.

I believe students improve fastest when technique and performance are developed together, so my goal is to help each singer build a healthier, stronger voice while becoming a more confident and expressive performer.
