About
I’m a professional guitarist with more than 15 years of live performance, touring, recording, and music industry experience. I’ve performed thousands of shows and have toured and shared stages with artists including Crazy Town, Korn, Staind, Drowning Pool, Adema, Fozzy, Pop Evil, Powerman 5000, (hed) p.e., Ill Niño, Julien-K, Soil, and Tom Morello.
I studied at Musicians Institute in Hollywood and have spent much of my career learning guitar where it ultimately matters: on stage, in rehearsals, in studios, and preparing for professional performances.
I specialize in rock and metal guitar, lead playing, rhythm guitar, improvisation, soloing, tone, stage performance, and helping guitarists prepare for auditions and live gigs.
My goal is not simply to teach you songs or have you memorize exercises. I want to help you understand the instrument, develop your own voice, and become a more confident and capable guitarist.
Whether you’re trying to play your first songs, break through a plateau, improve your lead playing, develop better tone, prepare for an audition, or learn what it takes to perform professionally, lessons are built around where you are now and where you want to go.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is practical, personalized, and goal-oriented. I don’t believe every guitarist should be put through the exact same lesson plan.
We’ll start by looking at where you are as a player and what you actually want to accomplish. From there, I’ll build lessons around the techniques, musical concepts, songs, and real-world skills that will move you forward.
Depending on your goals, we can work on lead guitar, rhythm, improvisation, fretboard knowledge, scales and modes, phrasing, picking technique, songwriting, tone, effects, stage performance, audition preparation, or developing a professional live rig.
I explain the “why” behind what we’re doing, but I keep theory connected to actual playing. I want you spending more time making music than staring at exercises.
Beginners are welcome, but experienced players who feel stuck or want to take their playing into a professional environment are especially welcome. If you’re preparing for a show, recording session, audition, or tour, we can also focus lessons specifically around that goal.
Curriculum
Lessons are customized to the individual student rather than built around a single fixed curriculum. We’ll use the music you actually want to play as a foundation while developing the technique, theory, ear training, fretboard knowledge, and musical vocabulary needed to progress.
I use practical demonstrations, exercises, backing tracks, song study, improvisation, and real-world playing situations. When useful, I’ll provide exercises, charts, tabs, and practice material specifically for what we’re working on.
I do not require students to purchase a particular method book. Recommended materials will depend on the student’s goals and level.
