I’m Selina Labara, an international DJ, producer, singer, and recording artist now based in New York City. I’ve performed internationally and at major clubs and events, developing a sound that blends Hip-Hop, R&B, House, Afro House, Dance, and high-energy club music.
With a community of 300K+ followers across TikTok and Instagram, I’ve built my career around music, performance, and connecting with audiences.
I teach DJing in a practical, personalized way, whether you’re starting from zero or looking to become more confident and professional behind the decks. We can work on beatmatching, phrasing, transitions, EQs, cueing, track selection, set building, and developing your own sound.
I can also help you prepare for performing in real club and event environments—not just mixing at home. My goal is to help you become a DJ who understands the music, controls the energy, and develops their own identity.

Teaching Style
My teaching style is practical, personalized, and focused on learning by doing. I adapt each lesson to your level, musical taste, and goals rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
We’ll spend most of the lesson actually mixing and practicing, while I explain the techniques and decisions behind what you’re doing. I focus on building strong fundamentals, musicality, confidence, and your own identity as a DJ.
Whether you want to learn for fun, improve your mixes, create better sets, or prepare to perform professionally, I’ll help you develop skills you can actually use behind the decks.
Curriculum
I use a hands-on, practice-based method. Each lesson combines a short explanation of the technique with guided practice, so you can immediately apply what you learn.
We’ll start by understanding your current level and goals, then build from the fundamentals: beatmatching, phrasing, cueing, EQ, transitions, track selection, and set structure. As you progress, we’ll work on creating a cohesive set, reading energy, and developing your personal style.
I can adapt the lessons to Rekordbox, CDJs, DJ controllers, or other setups and tailor the music and exercises to the genres you enjoy.
No textbooks are required. Students should ideally have access to a laptop with their DJ software and, if available, their own controller or DJ equipment.
Please bring a selection of music you genuinely enjoy and would like to learn to mix. Having your own tracks allows us to work on real examples and start developing your personal sound from the first lesson.
If you are completely new to DJing, that’s absolutely fine—you can start with no prior experience or equipment.
