About

I started Suzuki violin lessons at the age of 3 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Music degree from UW-Milwaukee. In following years, I did post graduate work at Alverno College and went on to complete Suzuki teacher training in Suzuki Books 1-4. Besides teaching private violin lessons, I perform regularly with Fretless Strings, Bowtime, Nine Worlds Ensemble, Animal Farm, Electric 5, and occasionally with various orchestras. I've had the extreme pleasure of performing with such notables as the rock band Kansas, Peter Cetera from the rock group Chicago, Rod Stewart, Final Fantasy "Distant Worlds: Milwaukee" show, Doc Severinsen, Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses, and most recently at Riot Fest with That Dog. I've also had the privilege of recording music for Milwaukee Public Television as well as for Chicago-area composers and singer-songwriters.

Teaching Style

I teach students of all ages and love tailoring lessons to each individual. Music is personal and I want to make sure you're learning what you're interested in or need to learn in order to prepare you for auditions or keep up in groups you play in. While I always include basics such as technique, ear training, and note reading, I also ask students for a list of music they're listening to or want to learn - nothing's off limits!

Curriculum

Blending Suzuki and Traditional methods works well for most students; however, if you prefer to stick to one over the other, I'm happy to emphasize one over the other.  Before our first lesson, I try to find out what materials you might already have so you don't always need to purchase new ones.
