Udeshi Hargett

Udeshi Hargett is an award-winning, acclaimed violinist. She is a certified violin teacher with 19 years of teaching experience. She has been playing the violin for the past 31 years. She started her violin education in Sri Lanka at the young age of 6 years. She was appointed Concert Master of the National Youth Orchestra, and was a member of the Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka. She has performed with several Orchestras in the United States. She was appointed Co-concert master of the Barton College Wilson Symphony Orchestra. Udeshi has won numerous national awards and is a highly sought after professional violinist. She performs at many weddings, events and concerts thoughout the year.

Udeshi's kind, nurturing attitude and enthusiasm for teaching makes learning fun and easy for her students. She loves teaching both children and adults. Udeshi customizes each lesson to fit the student and their individual needs. Whether you/your child want to play the violin for fun, to learn pop songs or to be in an orchestra, Udeshi will help them reach their goals. Her comprehensive lessons include a good mix of music theory, sight reading, scales and performance opportunities, which will help you or your child grow dramatically. I help you to gain the confidence and skill you need become a violinist. At your first lesson, you will learn proper posture, bow hold, more about the violin AND how to play on the strings. In about a month you will be able to play basic songs. How fun is that?! I teach classical violin and popular contemporary music you hear on the radio. This makes it fun and interesting for the students. This is a safe place to learn. I have the training to teach children with special needs. You will be getting coached by a professional violinist who has your best interest at heart.

I teach students of 2 years and older. Starting your children young can have numerous benefits. A combination of the traditional and Suzuki methods will be used in my teaching. As a result her students not only learn to play the violin by ear, and they also learn to read music from the start.  I incorporate ear training and listening exercises which is important to a student's musical development. You will learn music theory, sight reading, scales, rhythm and more in addition to playing the violin. 

I am kind and patient with my students and make sure I give them all the time they need. I work with them when they encounter difficult passages and follow a hands on approach.

If a parent would like to sit in and listen during a lesson, I welcome you to do so. Students progress much faster when the parents play an active role and encourage them to practice between lessons. If a sibling would like to sit in during a lesson, I allow that as well.
