Freda McKinney

I am a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree.  I have almost completed my Masters Degree at the University of Dayton.  My  professional experience, includes playing with  orchestras for The Children's Performing Arts of Miamisburg, Xenia Christian  Schools, the praise  band of First Baptist Church of Kettering, accompanying many church and school choirs in various states, has allowed me to tailor lessons for each student.This experience applies to voice classes as well.  I have considerable vocal experience including; choirs ,praise bands, leads in musical theater, soloist in various programs and soloist with The Hauer Swing Band.    

My experience  includes teaching  general music with Dayton Christian  Schools and accompanying choirs at Stivers School for the Arts and Choral Director for Spinning Road Baptist Church.

My professional affiliations include; The Dayton Music Club, Beavercreek Piano Teachers Association and the National Federation of Music Clubs.

I have been teaching privately for 30 years.  

.I begin by listening so I can understand my student's individual musical goals,then tailor each lesson to my students in the accomplishment of those goals.  There are many excellent curriculums available and I seek to choose the one that best fits the needs of my students.  I'm not a "cookie cutter" teacher.  Each student is unique.  My studio is diverse and multi-cultural including students from age 3 to adult.
