Angela Papierski
About
Angela Papierski began taking formal piano lessons at age 5, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts with a B.A. in Music. She has taught piano for decades, from very young beginners, to adults - both newcomers and those wishing to resume playing after a long break. Angela is also organist/pianist for a church in Cambridge, MA, where she resides.
Angela is experienced in online teaching, and is currently welcoming new students ages 7 and up.
Teaching Style
I attended Berklee College of Music, and then the University of Massachusetts, where I earned a B.A. in Music and graduated with highest honors. I received the UMass Performing Arts Department Jury Prize.
My teaching style is relaxed and warm. I recognize that different people learn differently, and do not have the same objectives and goals for themselves. Above all, I want my students to achieve a practical understanding of musical concepts and theory, and a solid foundation of technique and repertoire, regardless of whether they hope to become professional musicians themselves (whether on piano or another instrument), or if they just want to play for fun and relaxation.
Curriculum
My preferred teaching method/books are the Faber & Faber "Piano Adventures" series. I feel that their approach gives students a language and tools that can be utilized from their very first lesson all the way through their musical journey, and gradually builds from basic concepts into more complex theoretical and technical information and skills. However, I have used other method books, and am open to utilizing whatever will best suit an individual student's needs.
