Giorgi Jorjadze

 I am based in NYC classical cellist and a music teacher from Georgia. I was a principal cellist in Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theater for 12 years before I moved to the United States.  I earned my MM degree from Tbilisi State Conservatory and Graduate Degree in Music Education from CUNY/Brooklyn College.  I studied cello with professor Tamara Gabarashvili, who is the  Tchaikovsky competition winner and one of M. Rorsropovich's favorite students. Being 17 years old, I became a member of the Georgian State Chamber Orchestra (1999-2004), under the leadership of Georgian violinist and conductor Liana Isakadze. During 2004-2005 I was a Member of an international orchestra “Philharmonic der Nationen” Hamburg, Germany. I am a member of the string quartet “Iberi” and piano trio “Trio Per Te”. My solo performances include A. Dvorak cello concerto with Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theater Orchestra, V. Azarashvili cello concerto with Chamber Orchestra “Concertino Tbilisi”, E. Elgar cello Concerto in TV project “Maestro” e.t.c. As a chamber musician, I performed together with Dmitri Berlinsky, Evgeny Zhuk, Alexei Ludwig, Eduard Bruner, Eliso Virsaladze, Gustavo Nunez, and Maria Gutman. My performing career led me to experience such famous stages as Carnegie Hall, Berlin-Halle, Concertgebouw, among others.

Motivation is the key component for successful learning. First of all, I try to find out what is my student's goals, his/her current level, are there any gaps in learning, and what will work the best to fix it. My students have successfully participated in local and international music competitions (Golden Key, NEMTA), They have achieved high scores at NYSSMA and ABRSM exams. Cello is wonderful for playing all genres of music. Classical, Jazz, Country, Rock, all we need to succeed is just the right approach to the student, a balance between concert repertoire and technical study and of course, practice, practice, practice!
