Kayleigh Miller
About
I'm currently a member of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra in Seattle, WA, and a regular sub with the Seattle Symphony. I received my degrees in viola performance and music history from the New England Conservatory and a masters degree from the Eastman School of Music. I've previously been a member of the San Antonio Symphony, the New World Symphony, and I play in the summers as the member of the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra in upstate NY. I'm additionally a pilates and yoga instructor, as well as personal trainer, and I work with musicians on finding optimal, pain free setup and strategies for relaxed playing.
Teaching Style
I am passionate about diversifying our methodology in teaching music and including more contemporary works from living composers. I've taught using Suzuki methodology as well as other approaches, and I believe that every student benefits from an individualized approach to learning. No one method or approach works for all students, all of the time. I have training in both violin and viola, as well as training in bodymapping and musician's wellness. I believe that playing an instrument doesn't have to hurt!
