About

I have been a music educator for over 20 years in both private lessons and in classroom settings. I am currently teaching at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts where I teach Jazz Vocals, Composition, Music Pedagogy, Singer-Songwriter, Music Business, and Music Theory. I hold a Master of Music Degree from the University of Oregon, and I also studied for two years at The New School in Manhattan, New York. I have been performing and composing/arranging professionally since before I finished high school. Music has brought immeasurable joy to my life, and it is my passion to share that joy with others.

Teaching Style

My teaching style is based on inquiry and I enjoy leading students to make discoveries for themselves to achieve greater understanding. I am highly attentive to students' interests and goals and I am able to adjust my teaching style based on the students type of learnng.

Curriculum

I like to use the Schaum series of books for beginning piano students. For most other areas of interest, I will provide the required materials.
