Zachary Hann
About
I am a saxophonist and composer based in Brooklyn, New York. I enjoy helping students become the best musicians they can be.
I studied classical clarinet at Juilliard, and have performed with the American Ballet Theater Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Lukes, Metropolis Ensemble, and many others. I have performed in Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall (home of the New York Philharmonic), The Stone, and more. I also studied improvisation and composition from Sam Yahel and Jacob Adler, and have lead concerts and tours of original music with my own groups.
In addition to saxophone and clarinet, I have professional experience with flute, piano, composition, and music production. I currently teach private lessons at Bard College and Yale Univeristy.
Teaching Style
My goal is to give every student a positive experience in music. That can mean learning to play a beloved song, composing original music, or preparing for auditions. Whatever your goals, I aim to guide you toward success while cultivating a joyful relationship with music.
Curriculum
My method depends on the goals of the student. I emphasize a sustainable rhythm of practice, performance, and lessons so that music can be joyful. I adapt the difficulty of assignments to align with the student's goals, level of experience, and how much time they commit to regular practice.
