About

Melanie's love for the piano began early in life. As she studied piano more intensively, she realized that teaching was her true passion. Since then, Melanie has devoted herself to piano pedagogy.

Melanie received a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance with a concentration in Pedagogy from SUNY Fredonia. While at Fredonia, Melanie was the recipient of the Bromely Award, an annual award that is given to promising pianists. She was also the Vice President of the Fredonia State Keyboard Association.

In May of 2012, Melanie completed a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance with a concentration in Pedagogy. She studied at Bowling Green State University where she was also a Graduate Assistant. At Bowling Green, Melanie taught group piano classes to undergraduate students, as well as private piano lessons.

Melanie has taught private piano lessons to a variety of students, from young and older beginners to college level students aspiring to audition for a music degree program. In addition to teaching piano in one on one and group settings, Melanie has extensively studied pedagogical approaches to the piano and learning styles. This has enabled Melanie to share her deep love for music with others in a way that is effective, personal, and meaningful.

Teaching Style

As a teacher, Melanie chooses to focus on each student as an individual. This is accomplished through student-centered lessons, personalized goals, and unique relationships with each student. Through this approach, Melanie is able to lead her students on a path of musical discovery.
