About
Hi, I'm a Cleveland Ohio guitar player and teacher who's played guitar since the age of 14. Over the years I've played with a variety of local Cleveland legends, including: E.T. King, The Bad Boys of the Blues, Black and Coe, Taylor Lamborn, and many others. I began teaching at the age of 23, and have enjoyed learning the language of instruction and how to communicate my passion for music to others. I currently teach private lessons, and lessons at The Music Settlement, a Cleveland non - profit. In addition, I taught at the School of Rock until 2021. I love being creative in general, and music is a wonderful way for me to express myself. Through teaching I'm able to share that passion with a variety of interesting people along the way.
Teaching Style
My teaching is based around a strong foundation of technique, ear training, music theory and learning music that will be enjoyable for the student to play. I am very adaptable, and prefer to learn what the student is into musically and inject that into whatever music theory we are going through. I think it is important for musicians to learn how to listen to the different aspects of music, and be able to discover things through ear training on their own. I am a proponent of improvisation, and believe that good technique and a willingness to be creative can result in a very fulfilling musical experience.
Curriculum
I do not use texts in my teaching, though they can be incorporated if the student/parent has a desire for any.
