Steve Hetzel

Hello, I'm excited to get to know you!  I've been teaching students piano, ukulele, guitar, and voice in elementary general music classrooms for 15 years.  I've taught:

-Grades 1st-5th in the Salem-Keizer schools in Oregon (Scott Elementary 2007-2014),
-Ages 2-17 at The American School of Belo Horizonte in Brazil (2015-2017), and
-Grades Pre-K to 8th in Chicagoland (2017-2024). 

I was trained in classical voice at Lawrence University where I received a BA in Music (2003), and received a Master of Music Education at the University of Illinois (2007).

Have you ever wanted to play along with your favorite songs?  Or play them independently?  Or maybe take a solo on your instrument?  I'm here to help you achieve your goals!  My teaching style is student-centered, encouraging, and fun.  If you have specific goals you want to achieve, let's work together to get you there!  You're never too old to start!

If you're a beginner, then we'll cover the basics, step by step.  If you already have some experience, we can start with what you already know and build on it.  It's important to me that you enjoy the process so it will be tailored to your learning style.
