Franco Augusto Ortiz

Hello, I am Franco! I am a horn player, based in New Haven, Connecticut, currently studying at the Yale School of Music. I am originally from Lima, Peru, but I grew up in Miami, Florida. I completed a bachelors in music performance at the Oberlin Conservatory. I have taught students from a variety of backgrounds, and have been inspired by their love for the Horn. I offer lessons to musicians at any level, and am able to teach in both English and Spanish. Feel free to message with request! Lessons can be scheduled to best fit the student's schedule when possible. Please feel free to message regarding a sliding scale for lessons.

Hola, soy Franco! Yo soy un cornista. Vivo en la ciudad de New Haven, Connecticut y actualmente estoy estudiando en la Yale School of Music. Soy originario de Lima, Peru, pero crecí en Miami, Florida. Completé una licenciatura en el Conservatorio Oberlin. Durante mi tiempo como estudiante, le he enseñado a estudiantes de diversas orígenes. La pasión de mis alumnos por el corno frances sirve como fuente de inspiracion para mi propia musica. As a teacher, it is my goal to guide students through the difficulties of the horn. In my experience, focusing on the fundamental techniques helps build good habit that ensures healthy and efficient playing. This focus along with an emphasis on the musicality of the repertoire allows for the best results from my students. I like to develop a teaching style unique for every student that will best fit with their goals, and needs and will emphasize healthy development, as well as keeping practice and performance fun. 

Como profesor, mi objetivo es guiar a los estudiantes a través de las dificultades del corno.  En mi experiencia, centrarse en las técnicas fundamentales ayuda a desarrollar buenos hábitos que garantizan una interpretación musical saludable y eficiente.  Este enfoque junto con un énfasis en la musicalidad del repertorio permite obtener los mejores resultados de mis alumnos.  Me gusta desarrollar un estilo de enseñanza único para cada estudiante que se ajuste mejor a sus objetivos y necesidades y que enfatice el desarrollo saludable, además de mantener la práctica y el desempeño divertidos.
