Ary Reisin
About
Ary Reisin is a pianist, harpsichordist, organist, improviser, teacher.
Most known as an improviser, keeping with the rare tradition of improvisation of the great composers such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, and many others. Assuming it as a serious practice and art form that encompasses and combines the different modalities of: expression (interpretation), creativity (composition) and spontaneity (real time, made on the spot).
He has embarked on a most ambitious and unheard project: to record improvisations in classical styles (and others) in the different keyboard instruments, ranging from organ to the modern piano. From Baroque, Classical, Romantic all the way to modern film music.
He has released 15 albums of improvisations in various instruments (piano, pianoforte, harpsichord, organ).
As a recording artist, he seeks to make music that is genuine and unique, no matter the style or instrument.
He also has collaborated with different projects such as those that combine different arts (for example John Silence Radio, a channel where stories and tales are narrated)
He has performed live interactive piano improvisation concerts in Argentina in cities such as Buenos Aires and Cordoba.
After having studied in depth and combined different comprehensive techniques for the prevention of injuries and tension, he educates and advises students and pianists as well as different types of keyboard players. He also teaches improvisation to players of all instruments and levels.
As a teacher he has more than 20 years of teaching experience to students from 5 to 85 years old.
2004–ongoing — Private piano and improvisation lessons.
2011–2019 — Piano teacher at Primera Escuela Argentina de Arteterapia, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
2014–2016 — Piano teacher at Biblioteca Popular Cosquín. Cordoba, Argentina.
Teaching Style
Everyone is welcome: from complete beginners to performing musicians.
Be it the student is starting from scratch or is a performing musician seeking to work on something in particular (such as relaxation, identifying tension, working on different interpretations, complementary exercises away from the piano, unconventional approaches, exploring the world of improvisation and dynamic technique, etc.)
Each student is different. I believe in showing a variety of possibilities and adapting to what the student is looking for, as well as helping guide in the process. Be it a certain style or genre of preference, or certain musical aspect or practice, I work with the student to develop in a positive way. Some students are looking for a fun approach, while others are seeking a more serious approach.
What interests are stronger and how much dedication can be given is something personal. As well as how far one aspires to perfect any one aspect. Those cannot be imposed or forced, and there is no need for negativity. One can strive for ideals of the highest order with a positive attitude and enjoy the process.
Relaxation: of fundamental importance is the release of tension and correct posture. Avoiding weight retention and achieving maximum comfort. With greater security and confidence, mastery becomes easier.
Technique: development of all the elements involved in controlling the instrument - mechanical, rhythmic, dynamic, tonal. Different hand positions and use of the rest of the body. Complementary exercises away from the piano.
Expression: musical interpretation.
Phrasing possibilities. How to generate different emotions. Improvisation. Incorporating a creative sense.
Fluidity and harmony.
Recording: for your own enjoyment and sharing with others. To improve. To learn to listen to yourself. Preparation for demos, recordings and competitions.
