Margarita Roco
About
Marga Roco holds degrees in Voice from the University of the Philippines College of Music in Diliman, Q.C. and the Southern Methodist University Meadows School of the Arts in Dallas, TX. She has been teaching voice and performing in operas and operettas for more than two decades. She has had varied performing experiences from essaying roles in fully staged opera productions to being a classical vocal artist at the Venetian in Macau, China. Notable roles are Elle in Poulenc's La Voix Humaine, Dorabella in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, Valenciana in Lehar's La Viuda Alegre (in Filipino), Fidalma in Cimarosa's Il matrimonio segreto (various U.P. productions), Oryang in Chino Toledo's San Andres B (Tanghalang Pilipino), Mrs. Nolan in Menotti's The Medium (MusicArtes), and Zita in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi (Manila Symphony Orchestra). She is a founding member of cultural ensemble Tribu that has won Aliw and Leaf Awards for arts and entertainment.
Ms. Roco is a faculty member of the Centro Escolar University Conservatry of Music and the St. Scholastica's College School of Music in Manila. She has taught singers of all ages, but is most effective with teen and adult singers.
Teaching Style
Ms. Roco employs a holistic approach in teaching, relying on the synergy of free tone production, proper diction, and appropriate repertoire for a healthy and enjoyable singing experience.
