Han Lee
About
Hi! My name is Han and I am cellist currently playing with the Louisville Orchestra. Starting the cello at the age of 6, I grew a passion for music which led me to attend the Juilliard Pre-College Division from the age of 13 for 5 years. During my time there, I entered many competitions and received first prizes at the New York Music Competition, International Grande Music Competition, and won the concerto competition in 2015 and 2018. I continued my education at The Juilliard School where I received the Jerome L. Greene Fellowship and graduated with a BM in 2022. I received my MM at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music in 2024 and have been a member of the Louisville Orchestra since graduation. Throughout my education, I attended many festivals that helped me acquire valuable experiences in chamber and orchestral playing such as the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, Spoleto Festival USA, and the Tanglewood Music Festival.
Teaching Style
After determining where a student is on their musical journey, I would love to help them achieve any goals they may have. In lessons, I would listen to what the student has prepared and give advice on technical and musical aspects they could improve on and answer any questions they have about improving. I like to promote quality over quantity practice sessions so students can learn to practice efficiently without dreading long practice sessions. Most importantly, I would love to connect with the students and create a lesson space that is enjoyable and productive for both of us.
