Andrew Connors

Andrew has been teaching two of my kids ages 17 and 15 for over two years, acoustic and electric guitar. My 11 year old recently started bass guitar lessons with Andrew and I’m shocked at how quickly he has learned. I can’t say enough about what a great teacher he is.

I have two daughters who take lessons from Andrew. We have been with him for several years and I’ve had the privilege of watching them making incredible gains in the music they play and in their knowledge of music in general. What is even more important, Andrew is incredibly personable and makes the lessons fun. My daughters look forward to the lessons and enjoy learning and playing new and challenging songs. I cannot recommend Andrew highly enough to anyone considering learning the bass guitar.

I LOVE ANDREW!!! I've been taking lessons with him for 3-4 years now, and I highly recommend him. When I started, I was a complete beginner with no prior experience with string instruments and couldn't even locate notes on a guitar. Within weeks, I progressed to learning and playing entire songs independently. Andrew is incredibly understanding and caring, tailoring his teaching approach to suit each student's needs. Working with Andrew is a joy. He’s deeply knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging. Working with him I’ve learned how to play some of my favorite songs and have learned how to learn songs on my own. While we’ve focused on electric guitar, we’ve worked a little on bass too which has been fun. I enthusiastically recommend him.

Andrew is a phenomenal teacher and I look forward to lessons each week. He has a laid back style, but is very attentive and in tune to what you are playing and doing. One great tool that he uses, is recording the teachable moments for you to review each week, helping you hone in on what you need to work on. Every piece of music/song that I work on is material that I like to listen to, always keeping my interest up. Overall his musical knowledge base and skills on the guitar will help you achieve your goals on the instrument.

Andrew is the best. I came to him when I had never picked up a bass guitar in my life. I was nervous and embarrassed that I literally knew almost nothing. Starting something new is not easy! Andrew really breaks it down into ways my brain could understand given I was never a music student or any kind. His ability to adjust to the learning style and starting point of the student is amazing and so appreciated. I have now been taking lessons for almost a year and will continue to do so with Andrew. Andrew is truly an incredible teacher whom I could not recommend more highly. I take electric guitar lessons with a focus on lead guitar playing with Andrew and I have gotten dramatically better under his tutelage. First and foremost, Andrew is kind, patient, and genuinely cares about me improving. He creates an inviting atmosphere where questions are welcome and genuine dialogue ensues. I also appreciate how organized and tech savvy he is. He records all of his lessons, edits them so that only the relevant parts are shown, and sends them to me. This is an invaluable tool in terms of practice and review. Unlike music teachers I've had in the past, he focuses on songs that I want to play and weaves in lessons on theory and technique as he's showing me the best way to play those songs. And if I want to learn a song that's well beyond my level, he still encourages me to attempt it, as he is confident that he can make it digestible and use it as an opportunity to help me improve as a soloist. He is genuinely gifted at making complex theory digestible. And he always has little technique suggestions that improve the speed and clarity of my play. He is also quite flexible and willing to work with my schedule. As a practicing lawyer, I frequently have to request sudden, last-minute rescheduling. But he has always been understanding and accommodating. I am confident that any guitarist or bassist - regardless of level - would see tangible improvement quickly if they worked with Andrew. He really is that good.

Andrew is an exceptional instructor!! He is very knowledgeable and has a great ability to share his expertise easily. He makes learning fun and before you know it you are advancing quickly! Not all teachers are as good online but Andrew is amazing and has left quite an impression with the whole family. Andrew is a fantastic teacher. After several years of taking piano lessons thru ****** with great success I decided I wanted to finally learn the guitar - I've probably only ever held one a few times in my life, so to say I was a beginner is an understatement. I searched through a lot of teachers and settled on Andrew and could not be happier that I did. In just a few short months I'm already able to play several songs. His lessons are fun and interactive. He is extremely personable and immensely talented. If you want to learn guitar, he is the man to teach you.

Andrew started teaching my son during COVID when it was really something to do. This has become his passion and very much thanks to Andrew. He’s now playing in several bands but still wants to have regular lessons online wherever he is. I can recommend Andrew highly enough.

Andrew is a fantastic teacher that I recommend without hesitation, happy to take you where you want to go and effective in getting you there, w/out condescension or making you feel unskilled. Over 2 years Andrew has effectively taught me the basics (where the notes are, playing technique), laid a solid foundation for theory (why the notes are and their relationship to the chords and that relationship to the tune or other players), and has given keen insights on putting that all together to make music with others. Whatever you're looking to accomplish, he'll help you get there and be a good human in the process.

Andrew is a great bass teacher. His friendly demeanor and extensive knowledge make every lesson enjoyable and interesting. He knows how to incorporate just enough theory without it being overwhelming. Because he also plays guitar, he can always provide perspective on how bass and guitar work together. Not to mention his incredible ear. I feel I have a good ear for figuring out most every song, but for parts that are difficult for me, Andrew can figure out, literally, in about ten seconds. Probably the best part of our lessons is that Andrew helps me to work on bass lines for my band. Jamming on bass with others is relatively new for me, so Andrew provides clear guidance on creating original bass lines, working with the drummer, improvisation, and everything else I want to learn. Finally, he records key parts of lessons so I can reference them later, while also sending all kinds of useful online resources. Andrew is a highly skilled instructor, and I recommend him to anyone, especially if you are looking to become a dedicated musician.

Andrew is an incredible teacher who will take the time to learn your level, what you are interested in playing, and will teach you the music theory behind it. I am an older player and musician who plays regularly in a Church band, but also likes all types of musical genres, I truly enjoy my lessons with Andrew and have seen my level of play increase significantly due to his effort. Andrew is an amazing teacher. I appreciate the fact that he really knows his stuff, and makes sure to incorporate a well rounded amount of info on all facets of guitar throughout his lessons. I’ve had a few guitar teachers in the past, and Andrew is by far the best one I’ve had. Certain teachers can bog you down with certain lessons/info where it’s easy to lose interest, ie- too much theory, or learning songs/books that aren’t what I’ve had in mind. I never experienced that with Andrew’s lessons. I’m always learning new things and never getting bored. As a guitar player, I’ve grown tremendously in the time that I’ve taken lessons with Andrew.

My son William started lessons with Andrew about a month ago and they just clicked! My son is very shy, but was able to open up quickly to Andrew because of their shared interests. Andrew is very patient and has such a strong knowledge of music theory. We were looking for someone that would be able to work with us in becoming more experienced and proficient in jazz music and Andrew has been able to align his instruction to my son’s interests perfectly. Over the past few weeks I have seen a notable growth and improvement in my son’s ability and approach to playing jazz riffs and his confidence has soared. Andrew is a fantastic guitar teacher. I started taking lessons with him 6+ months ago and have loved every minute with him. I grew up playing a few instruments but haven't picked one up in decades. Knowing this, Andrew is able to weave in general music theory into each of our lessons to help me uncover this knowledge that I thought I'd forgotten. Andrew is also incredibly patient in each lesson as some things I'm able to pick up faster than others. He also understands the demands of parenting and work that can impact how much practice one can put in each week and lets me lead the pace of our lessons. Another thing to note, Andrew has been teaching online lessons long before they became the thing during the pandemic. I don't know how he does this but he's able to record snips of each lesson where he's teaching me music theory, or how to play a finger picking pattern or a chord. Once my one-hour lesson ends, he sends me an 8-10 minute video of all the essential teaching from our lessons along with chord charts. He doesn't record me playing, so I don't have to wince through my not so perfect playing. I cannot recommend Andrew enough to anyone who is looking to pick up the guitar, looking to dust off their guitar technique, or just looking for someone who can help them learn to play some of their favorite songs.

Been taking lessons with Andrew for a couple of years now, and I've seen a lot of improvement since then. I enjoy how flexible our lessons are. Sometimes I come with my own stuff I want to work on, and in others he generates some content for us to work through. For the vast majority of stuff I bring to him, Andrew is able to help on the spot without me letting him know beforehand. Gives a lot of flexibility on my end. The other thing I love is that he emphasizes understanding how the music we are playing works, which in turn helps a lot with internalizing concepts as well as learning and understanding future songs. I find this to be a lot better than a lot of online stuff I see that is more rote "now move 2nd finger to the 5th fret" type teaching. He's also been big about pushing me to use my ear more. Coming from a background where I heavily relied on sheet music, I've found this difficult, and although I have a long way to go, I've improved a lot in this realm, and I find it satisfying to learn songs (or pieces of songs) by ear

Andrew is an great instructor. I’ve been studying guitar for some time now and has felt like I wasn’t progressing. Andrew has really helped me grow as a player. He is patient, knowledgeable and has made learning my favorite songs on guitar fun. He doesn’t just teach how to play the song but helps you understand how the song “works”so you can learn to play “your” version of song. Also he just a really cool and kind guy. I recommend him.

Andrew is a fantastic teacher having tried others. He is knowledgeable of all styles of guitar and is patient but challenging which makes for better learning not just rote memorizing. You've got to get him a shot; it's worth it!

Andrew has a wealth of musical knowledge and loves to teach children of all ages...even those of us about to turn 64! His patience, along with his ability to relate ideas to the students in a way they can understand, makes each lesson enjoyable as well as productive. Lesson time seems to fly by. We couldn’t ask for a better guitar instructor! My kids have learned so much from him and I imagine it couldn’t be easy to teach guitar online. I have two teenage daughters, who play bass guitar and they have both been taking lessons from Andrew for several years. The time spent with him has been phenomenal. He is able to teach all aspects of playing and musicianship and keeps them having fun and progressing.

We have 3 kids who take lessons from Andrew. He is the real deal. He is a professional teacher in a professional studio and he is very talented. Our eldest has been with Andrew for over a year. He is thriving and playing very well. Our second child takes bass for about 10 months and thriving. Our youngest has been about 7 months and she looks forward to every lesson and practicing. I cannot emphasize enough the difference between Andrew and other instructors. He records every lesson so the kids can listen through and review as they practice. He is unique with each child for their strengths and personality.

I usually don’t write reviews, but I feel like I must make an exception in this case. My quick story with guitar is I’ve played for a long time on and off (I’m 61 years old) and feel like I have progressed as far as I could being self-taught. I wanted to go beyond this point but was finding that path difficult to find. Further compounding my confusion was the myriad online web sites and videos. I went to a few different guitar teachers, but they all seemed unable to point me in the direction I needed to go. Enter Andrew. With his calm demeanor, this encouraging and knowledgeable teacher has started to gently untangle the mess of confusion and start me on a path towards my goal. Finding a good music teacher is hard- just because someone can play doesn’t mean they can teach. Andrew is that rare combination of great musician and great teacher, and anyone would be lucky to learn from him. He’s knowledgeable, committed, prepared, and invested- I came to him with the goal of becoming a professional musician, and everything in my lessons has been structured with that goal in mind. He has a wealth of knowledge on everything from music theory to gear to life as a working musician, which he is always happy to share. My background: I'm a 44 year old reformed drummer that started learning bass about a year before taking lessons with Andrew. About Andrew: he brings a relaxed and comfortable vibe, but it rests atop a strong and conversant knowledge of theory (and of course, playing ability) that he graciously sprinkles about in a quantity calibrated to your level and interest. He's always prepared with an effective and practical trajectory for the lesson and lessons pathway, but fully embraces whatever you're bringing that day (questions you have, songs you're listening to or want to understand better) and manages to synergize what you bring with trajectory you're on. I've learned a tremendous amount. And, he's a good dude. All-in, a unique combination of personal skills and technical tools. I do recommend.

Andrew has been the best music instructor I've worked with. While there is great structure and implementation key fundamentals, he is all for self discovery as a musician and developing individual styles. He takes care to focus on the improvements as an individual as opposed to a cookie cutter mold for instructions. I've grown more than I thought I would in this time!

I can't say enough about working with Andrew. He is able to work on whatever level you are at and also take you to the level you want to get to. I was hesitant to choose a teacher because there are so many here. From the first meeting I got so much from working with Andrew.

I was a complete beginner when I started lessons with Andrew, but only a few months in I already feel like a moderately confident player. Andrew does an excellent job working with your interests and keeping his students engaged with what they're learning. If you already have a list of songs you want to learn, that's ideal! Andrew has been able to answer all of my questions and lead me to tools, tips, or exercises to strengthen any area of playing I want to focus on. Andrew has been a wonderful guitar teacher. I started as a beginner at age 40, and have developed many skills to play songs. His approach is to learn the songs you love, so you learn through playing not drills. However, I have asked for some drills to improve my knowledge of rhythm and lead guitar. His instruction style is easy to follow and allows for growth. I play in front of friends all the time and they are impressed with my playing abilities. I would recommend Andrew to any new or experienced guitar player.

I think what’s been most impressive about Andrew is his versatility and ability to really cater lessons to bring you wherever you want to go as a guitar player. I’ve been playing guitar on and off for 10+ years and was really stuck because I didn’t know the first thing about music theory (especially as it related to guitar). I’ve been taking lessons with Andrew for 6+ months and it’s been a great investment. Ear training is so important with guitar and Andrew has brought me to a point where I can pick up notes from songs without needing tabs. We’ve covered everything from music theory (keys, chord theory, major/minor scales, root notes, octave shapes) to blues. He is extremely organized and shares pertinent material/documents and video clips of himself from lessons to be used during practice. He pushes me beyond my mental and physical capabilities so I can attain musical growth, all with great patience. I can’t say enough about the man!

Andrew is very patient and caring. You can tell how passionate he is about playing. I took up lessons again after a 3 year hiatus and I have learned more in the past few lessons then I did in my prior 5 years of playing.

Andrew is the best online lesson experience I've had. He's always super-positive, always encouraging, and just generally has a great attitude. His lessons are very well adapted to the online format, giving you video clips of the important moments in your lesson and links to extra resources. I've tried multiple instructors and although Andrew isn't the most affordable teacher on ******, he is worth every penny. After trying several I chose to continue with Andrew and increase our cadence to 3 hours a week. I'm seeing improvement in my skills nearly every day with his guidance!

Working with Andrew has taken me further in a few months than I've taken myself in 10 years of self-learning. His patience makes learning painless. He's great at finding challenging but accessible songs to learn (that I never would have found on my own), and his ability to quickly learn and then teach songs I would love to play has been a pleasant unintended surprise.

Ive had several instructors in the past for very short amounts of time. Never finding one I truly felt was a good fit for me. Andrew is the first instructor that I feel truly listens to what I wanted to learn and the songs that inspire me. He doesn't come off dogmatic. Instead, while still focusing on basic principles that are essential for a beginner like myself, his approach is fresh, fun and modern. Eliminating the intimidating blocks that can come with learning a new instrument. What blew me away the most was that we are doing our lessons online. And their is no hindrance what can be achieved in the lesson through this format . I would say its been even better for me as I can go back and look at what we've worked on throughout the week. A tool that has been truly essential. We've only had two lessons and I'm already playing along to a Tom Petty song. I look forward to what's next. Hands down best Teacher I've ever had. Highly recommend.

Andrew is a stellar guitar instructor! He's patient, precise and our practice sessions are loads of fun. We're working on new stuff every week (currently, we're focused on finger-style). Anytime I get stuck, he helps me find where I'm tripping, break it down and get "unstuck" (thanks Andrew!)... His online video classroom setup is professional and looks\sounds crisp and clear. Highly recommended.

if patience is a virtue ... Andrew is a saint. encouraging, but firm. inspires student to explore creative and fun aspects of playing while still focusing on the technical. upbeat even on the difficult days so struggles don't make you feel like giving up but push you to succeed.

I've been taking lessons from Mr.Connors for quite a while now, and I must say that he is the greatest guitar teacher I have ever had. A year ago, before I met Mr.Connors, I used to be a the worst guitar player ever. I used to spend hours over hours in front of the computer screen trying to learn a song or some music theory, but I never seemed to get any better. I still continued to try, though, because I had a particular interest towards the instrument, but I couldn't shake off the feeling that i wasn't going in the right direction and that I needed someone to guide me. Mr.Connors was just the person I was looking for. He identified my skill level immediately and steered me in the right direction. Each song I was taught had a unique skill that I needed to master to make it through to the end. This made me realise the importance of the subtleties involved in playing guitar. I just recently dived into music theory and sometimes feel overwhelmed by the amount of theory that I have to learn, but Mr.Connors knows how to light my spirits up. Watching him play, I realise that I can take my guitar to the next level with just a little more effort. This motivates me to spend more time on the instrument, and I got to say I have never been more interested in the guitar than I am right now. Overall Mr.Connors is nice, polite, patient, funny, and an exemplary guitar player and teacher (If that wasn't obvious already). Looking back I realise I've come a long way from a year ago, and I have Mr.Connors to thank for everything. I know I'm going to keep learning from him as long as i still want to get better.

I have been taking guitar lessons from Andrew for some time now, and I must say that he is by far the best teacher I've ever had. He never rushes you out and he genuinely cares about your musical development. I started taking lessons from Andrew to prepare for my music auditions for college. He put much effort into teaching me all that I know about ear training, music theory, improvisation, and my technique as a guitarist. I accredit Andrew in playing a fundamental role in my acceptance into Berklee College of Music. Not only has he helped me get accepted into Berklee, but within a short time of taking lessons with Andrew, I soon had the ability to play songs that once were beyond my skill level. I never imagined that I would be able to replicate Toni Iommi's riffs and John Mayer's finger-picking patterns, but Andrew knew how to solve the problems in my playing that I was struggling with. I honestly never thought I would get past those problems. He knows how to teach you in a way that makes an intimidating lick, not so difficult to play after all. He also teaches you HOW to practice to perfect your technique, which improved my playing dramatically. All in all, I feel so blessed to have found Andrew and been a student of his. He's not only a fantastic musician, but overall he's an amazing person - friendly, caring, funny, down-to-earth, encouraging, patient, and honest. I consider Andrew not only my guitar teacher, but a mentor and trusted friend. Going to lessons is something I look forward to every week. I cannot thank him enough for playing such a big role in my musical journey and impacting my life in such a great way. You rock, Andrew <3

I just started taking guitar lessons and Andrew has been an excellent teacher. He has the patience and teaching knowledge to inspire even the most novice player. His lesson plans are customize to the needs and goals of the student which makes learning fun. He provides a good mix of practical application and music theory. His music range is wide spread stylistically, thus as a teacher he can focus on many different areas with each of his students. Andrew is a fantastic teacher! He will go at your pace and make sure he is focusing on what you really want to accomplish. not to mention he is an actual gigging musician so he plays a lot. Andrew's fantastic musicianship mixed with a low key personality, is the perfect recipe for a great music instructor. Aspiring bass players should capitalize on his ability to play both fluid single note lines-and this is key-his incredibly funky bottom end. Non-bassists, never fear. Set Me Up For My Career Andrew was my first bass teacher and I think that he's still one of the best teachers I've had. I had already been playing for a few years, but I felt like I was missing some of the knowledge that all musicians should have. Andrew was extremely patient and very knowledgable. When we were learning things I was unfamiliar with (I.e. Modes, syncopation, reading, etc.), not only did he explain these things completely, but he then showed me how to use them in the real world. He taught me effective practicing routines, helped me with my horrible left and right hand technique, and showed me that theory really isn't as scary as it sounds. I'm now living in Nashville pursuing the whole music thing. I don't think I would have been as successful down here without Andrew's help. Loved our lessons! Thanks, dude!

Awesome Instructor I have been studying the bass with Andrew for just over two years with a concentration on Jazz theory. Andrew uses a step by step approach geared to my learning style - we have switched directions several times. Andrew's attention to detail and his desire for me to learn the right way is more than impressive. There have been lessons where I have not played a note but instead focused on reviewing different concepts. I'm fifty-seven years old and things don't come as easy as they use to and I really appreciate Andrew's patience and availability. I highly recommend Andrew for someone who is serious about learning to play the bass.
