About

I have been teaching guitar for over 20 years and as an instructor, My teaching method comes from a curriculum I have developed which uses popular guitar driven rock tunes as musical etudes. Educating the student with valuable theory, reading, technique, and scale theory, while remaining fun. As a songwriter I have worked with companies like Wild Whirled Music which writes and records music for use in film and television as well as songwriter and producer greats such as Tim James, Antonina Armato, and legendary Desmond Child. With Wild Whirled Music I have had my songs placed on MTV, FOX, TNT, VH1, CW, E!, Bravo, FX, USA and TLC on shows such as LA Ink, Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Parks and Recreation, Mentalist, Psych, Bones, The Office, The Adam Sandler Film "That's My Boy" and the Greg Kinnear film “Stuck In Love”

Teaching Style

I teach all styles of guitar. Specializing in Rock. Everything from very beginner to advanced shred. I use popular songs from throughout the history of rock, from Chuck Berry to AC/DC, to Ozzy, to Nirvana, and everything in between as etude studies to teach technique, theory, and scale theory.
Most importantly, I get the students playing songs they enjoy within the first lessons and doing it properly with flawless technique and learning the theory behind it as well

Curriculum

My method involves looking at printed transcriptions of songs and learning how to read the music, mostly tablature, but if the student wishes, standard notation as well. This way the student will gain the ability to look at any transcription of any song they might want to learn on their own and be able to read the piece of music.

While learning the song, we will also study the compositional techniques used by the songwriter, as well as the techniques used the the production of the tune, so that they student may better understand how to apply those same techniques in their own original music.

We will also focus on and learn the technical abilities needed to play these tunes as well as the music theory behind the songs, again, with the ultimate goal being to apply these same new techniques in the students own music, or to understand these concepts in other songs.

When we finish learning a piece of music, not only will the student ba able to play the song, but the students understanding of music as a whole will have increased as well as their technical ability. Each piece of music studied will challenge the student just a little bit more in order to improve their abilities and over all understand of music.
