Steven Jon Collett

  My name is Steven Collett and I look forward to making music with you. Whether you or your child are a beginner or have a few years under your belt, I can guide you to the next level from the comfort of your own home. I am an experienced Singer and multi-instrumentalist on Piano, Ukulele,  Guitar, Bass, and Trumpet. I guess you can say music feeds my soul!

   I played 5 years in the Hamilton All-Star Jazz Band performing at the IJEA in New York City with Adrean Farrugia and Diana Panton. After graduating from the Applied Music Program, I went on to study Jazz Performance at the University of Toronto studying with Phil Nimmons, Mike Malone, Brian Dickinson, and Kirk MacDonald. I performed on cruise ships for 3 years, playing piano in the Jazz Trio all over North America, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Alaska.

  Up until the COVID-19 crisis, I divided my time between teaching in person at Capstone Music and privately, plus performing Rock, Pop, Jazz & Blues at many venues across the greater Toronto and Hamilton area. Although playing gigs has been paused for the foreseeable future, I continue to enjoy teaching my students through online platforms either through Outschool.

 I teach from the Faber Piano Adventures books and other material.
