About
Jaime earned her bachelor of music in performance degree at the University of Kansas City Missouri Conservatory of Music and Dance with professor Keith Benjamin. She earned her master of music in performance degree at Lynn University with professor Marc Reese of the Empire Brass.
By studying at conservatories her schooling was almost 100% intensive study of performance, efficiency and proficiency of the trumpet, music theory and history, aural training, composition, solo, small and large ensemble training/performance.
After college she managed a brass store that sells mostly trumpet equipment and music worldwide. She gained skills and knowledge with equipment, business, professional etiquette, and exposure to even more classes and concerts by leading professionals while traveling for the store.
She held teaching positions in local stores and college programs in Kansas City MO and Boca Raton FL while in college. She also served as instructor of trumpet at the Cazadero Performing Arts Camp in CA and has since had her own private studio in Nebraska since 2011.
She is the 3rd trumpet in the Lincoln Symphony and is a substitute for the Omaha Symohony, Sioux City Symphony, and freelances playing for weddings, graduations, church services and other special events.
6 years ago she left managing the retail store and now serves as treatment and financial coordinator for a large two location dental practice gaining her even more skills with customer service and interaction.
Teaching Style
Lessons are never run by myself alone; whether the student is 16 or 61 I always ask questions, make sure we are in alignment with priorities and desires to improve playing skill. I like to address root issues and give students the education tools and thoughts needed to have great home practice session. Let's figure out the underlying cause of an airy sound, hard to control or unclear articulation, limited range, small dynamic box etc etc.
We may need to tweak your embouchure, work on reading music better, identify how your air stream is functioning, check mental approach and processes to allow your body to relax enough to play with ease and beauty. Ultimately, I am here to help you become a better musician and have FUN by way of playing the trumpet. I desire to connect through listening and understanding you as a person and what resonates best for you as a learning student as well because we are much more than just 'trumpet players'!
