About
Hi! I am a dedicated musician with a bachelor degree in jazz and modern music at Conservatori Liceu in Barcelona.
I love to share what I´ve learned in my 20 year career and 12 years teaching and I´m passionate about teaching theory, technique and songs.
As I have played and studied many different styles we can aboard a great range of them.
Teaching Style
I give one hour lessons and what I like is to work consistent in the things we are trying to develop. For me is also important to keep a balance between the different aspects of music, I try not to stay only in one thing so probably we work different things at a time.
For example, we are working arpeggios but at the same time we will work rhythm and maybe applying this to a song.
I always try to find the point in which the student learns things that motivates him/her and also I try teaching what I think is important at his level.
Curriculum
Harmony
In my teaching method, I emphasize the importance of harmony in music. Students learn to understand chord progressions and how the bass interacts with other instruments. We explore scales and modes to help them create rich, harmonic lines that enhance their playing.
Rhythm
Rhythm is the backbone of music, and I focus on developing a strong sense of timing in my students. Through various exercises, we work on playing in sync with a metronome, understanding different time signatures, and incorporating syncopation to add depth to their bass lines.
Technique
I prioritize proper technique to ensure students can play efficiently and comfortably. We cover finger positioning, plucking techniques, and slap. Regular exercises help build strength and dexterity, allowing students to tackle more complex pieces with ease.
Styles
To foster versatility, I introduce students to a variety of musical styles, including rock, jazz, funk, Latin and blues. This exposure helps them understand the unique role of the bass in different genres and encourages them to develop their own musical voice.
Ear Training
Developing a good ear is crucial for any musician. I incorporate ear training exercises that help students identify intervals, chords, and rhythms by ear. This skill not only enhances their playing but also improves their ability to improvise and collaborate with other musicians.
Credentials & Affiliations
I am a graduate in Jazz and Modern Music from the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona, where I had the opportunity to participate in all the masterclasses organized by the Voll Damm Jazz Festival. In 2023, I was selected to be part of the BLAM ensemble, which was an exciting milestone in my musical journey.
Additionally, I studied double bass at the University School of Music in Montevideo, Uruguay. My teaching experience includes working as a professor at the 440 and Groove music schools in Uruguay, where I shared my passion for music with students.
Throughout my career, I have had the pleasure of accompanying various artists, including Leo Masliah, Trovalina, Reina Riff, and many others. Each collaboration has enriched my musical experience and deepened my love for jazz and modern music.
