Lea Sarkisov
About
Lea is a vocalist (soprano), pianist, and singer-songwriter. She studied at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, in the studio of Vinson Cole and Dr. William Cotten. She also studied at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music in the studio of Cynthia Clayton.
A few productions she has sang for include operas such as Le Nozze di Fígaro (Susanna), Die Zauberflöte (Pamina), Florencia en el Amazonas, and musicals such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Narrator), Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, The Phantom of the Opera, and Beauty and the Beast.
Lea was one of the few selected to travel and perform with the University of Houston’s Choir at the acclaimed Llangollen Eisteddfod Competition in Wales, UK, under the instruction of choral director, Dr. Betsy Cook Weber. Traveling with the selected choir was Dr. Renu Khator, President of the University of Houston. One of the Llangollen Eisteddfod’s previous notables was tenor Luciano Pavarotti, who had performed in the past and endorsed its reputation as a place of musical accomplishment.
In high school, Lea placed first and second chair with the TMEA All-State Choir a few years. She is presently instructing middle school and high school singers in Solo and Ensemble competitions, TMEA choral auditions, and musical theater auditions. She is MusikGarten certified and teaching young children via their course curriculum. She is also privately teaching both voice and piano, and instructing advanced students with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) examinations. Helping her students advance and evolve to new levels is one of her greatest joys, and she is always excited to share the love of music with others.
