About

Hey there! I'm Federico, a musician from Bogotá, Colombia. I teach lessons on bass guitar, electric and acoustic guitar, ukulele, and also music theory. I like to explore different genres based on my students' goals. Therefore, we can explore genres such as jazz, Latin jazz, rock, pop, reggae, funk, R&B, soul, salsa, son, bossa nova, and even Colombian traditional music like cumbia or currulao.

My path in music started when I was 12, and my parents gave me a bass guitar for Christmas with the only condition that I had to take lessons. That changed my life completely, and a few years later, I decided to become a professional musician studying music from 2013 to 2017 at Universidad El Bosque. Recently, I also completed a graduate program in "Pedagogical Innovation" at Universidad del Rosario in 2023.

As a music teacher, I have over 7 years of experience. I’ve taught at a couple of music academies, and mainly as a one-on-one instructor for students aged 7 and up. I'm deeply passionate about music, and I love sharing the joy of making music and seeing the excitement on my students' faces when they enjoy themselves through music.

Lessons are available in both Spanish and English.

Teaching Style

The goal of my lessons is for the students to develop their musical skills by playing the music they enjoy, creating a fun and enjoyable learning experience. I always encourage my students to seek out songs or genres that challenge them in some way, helping them develop greater skills as musicians. This is not done through a rigid mindset where making mistakes is considered bad, but rather by understanding that we learn precisely from mistakes, and it is from there that we can encourage progress.

Curriculum

The curriculum is created together with the student to cover the topics they wish to explore, setting goals or objectives to be achieved within a specific time frame. As a teacher, my role is to motivate you to keep the learning moving forward, suggesting different paths where we can work to improve your musical abilities.
