About
I began playing music when I was 8 years old and started playing professionally as a teenager. I started teaching in-person lessons in 1987 and opened my own studio 20 years ago. I have also been a faculty member at a local Fine Arts Center for 14 years.
Teaching Style
I incorporate bowing exercises and left hand fingering techniques to increase musicality and left-hand, right-hand coordination. I also work on ear training to enhance student musicality and awareness; and use a metronome to help with timing and rhythm. We will work to meet specific goals to help insure student success.
Curriculum
On violin I use Suzuki Method, Sassmannshaus Tradition, Essential Elements and other instruction books. I am adept at teaching many different styles of violin and fiddle music.
Credentials & Affiliations
Education
I earned a teacher training certificate in the Sassmannshaus Tradition from the Starling Project Foundation at the University of Cincinnati. I also took online lessons from Dr. Diana Seitz, Associate Professor of Applied Violin at the University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley.
