Ryan Pest
About
Hello! My name is Ryan, and I have been passionately teaching private music lessons since 2010. I am a native of Huntsville, AL, and have been living in Southern California since 2012. I now reside in Hollywood with my husband and two dogs. I hold a BA in Classical Vocal Performance with a minor in Theatre Arts from UAHuntsville, and an MFA in TV, Film, and Theatre Acting from CSULA. Drawing from my background in music and performance, I aim to help each student find their voice and connect with their artistic goals.
Teaching Style
My philosophy revolves around creating a nurturing environment where my students feel free to explore their instrument and discover new things about themselves in the process. I believe that while hard work is essential, the creative process should also be free and fun. Embracing failure is a crucial part of this journey, as working through mistakes is the only way to master a new skill. You must make "ugly noise" to discover what is truly beautiful. This approach fosters resilience and helps students grow both as musicians and individuals.
Whether you're a beginner looking to find your voice or an advanced student aiming to refine your skills, I’m here to guide you every step of the way. Let's make music together!
