Hey there! Lets discover your full musical potential through improvisation and modern string styles! Whether I’m playing viola in the orchestra with a hip-hop artist like Rick Ross, or playing jazz violin at a venue in NYC, I have used a modern string approach to develop a deep relationship and understanding of my instrument and the music I play. I hold a Bachelors degree in classical viola performance from the University of Georgia, and I am currently in a Masters program for performance and composition at The New School. I have almost a decade of private teaching experience, and have helped countless students achieve their goals; whether it be getting into music school, winning orchestra auditions, or just developing their own skill and style as a musician. In our lessons, we will take a unique approach to learning your instrument! My goal is to not only teach you how to play to your full potential, but also to teach you how to be an independent & confident musician. I tailor my lessons to your interests and needs, and we will focus on developing your skills using repertoire that you are interested in; whether that be the classical Suzuki method, fiddle tunes, jazz, or pop music. I will also work with you to develop a full understanding of your instrument and your favorite musical styles by learning some practical music theory and talking about the rich history behind your instrument and favorite music. We will work specifically on your goals and interests, incorporating everything we can to develop your very own well-rounded musicianship. I believe the modern day requires modern solutions to learning an instrument, and there is no reason why we can’t blend the strengths of traditional musical learning with a fun and forward thinking approach!
