About

I have most recently completed my Master of Arts in Voice from the Royal Academy of Music where I also received a Licentiate of Pedagogy in Singing. I have a wide background of performing opera, classical, folk, jazz, and musical theatre having been in fully staged and orchestral backed productions. I've been teaching privately for over five years to a range of different types of students and backgrounds to fit whatever they need best.

Teaching Style

I'm a huge believer in finding honesty and truth in singing in people's voices. It doesn't necessarily matter which genre of singing we are doing, at it's core we are trying to find our own voice and what we really sound like.

My lessons are intended to be a very open and creative environment, I will ask you to make a lot of weird sounds and I'll probably make a lot of weird sounds too! The process of learning to sing can be hard and feel almost scary to experiment in front of someone else as it's a very personal art form. We will work to find our inner release in our voices to find true expression in the singing that we do.

Curriculum

My teaching method is rooted in old school bel canto classical techniques, however this is only at the most basic sense of connection. It is not at all intended to make you sound like a 'classical' singer should that not be what you are looking for. It is intended on finding efficiency and honesty in the voice. We want our voice and body to work for us, not against.

The best texts for singing are listening critically to all kinds of different singers to start to train our ear how to identify and use certain elemtents of singers we both like and dislike.
