Elias Haddad
About
Hello and thanks for taking the time to read my post. My name is Elias, and I am an award-winning pianist and composer with a Doctorate degree in composition from the University of Toronto, and four commercially recorded albums of my own compositions. In recent years, I focused on composing for solo instruments, chamber ensembles, choirs, and orchestras. I have been playing piano since the age of five, and I cannot imagine my life without music in it. I would certainly love to share that knowledge with you.
Teaching Style
I believe in adapting to each student's pace and preferences, but here are a few things that I share with all my students:
- Importance of Counterpoint, and Harmony
- Improvisation and musicianship
- Orchestration
- Analyzing the great master composers and learning from them
- Mastering the composition craft one measure at a time.
Most importantly, I find it very important to encourage each student to reach their maximum potential and will guide them through it every step of the way.
I work with students online and have had tremendous success doing it. Please know that it is never too late to start music lessons! I can help you whether you want to learn composition as a hobby, go pro, apply for competitions, or universities.
Talk to you soon!
Curriculum
I like to take my time explaining Music Theory, Harmony, and compositional concepts and techniques.
Once I am sure my student has a good grasp of the concept, I hand out small assignments in which they implement the concepts acquired.
If the student presents me with their own compositions, I take my time to read and listen, so that I can provide constructive advice to help make the music more coherent, and professionally presented.
