About

Hello! I’m Daniel Quayle, a Manx traditional musician and multi-instrumentalist from the Isle of Man, specializing in bouzouki, guitar, piano, and banjo. With a deep-rooted passion for Celtic, Manx, Irish, and Scottish folk music, I’ve spent years blending traditional sounds with modern elements to create something unique.

I’ve toured extensively throughout the UK, Europe, and beyond, performing at renowned festivals like Celtic Connections and Viljandi Folk Festival. As part of a duo with American fiddler Elizabeth Davidson-Blythe, our music brings together the richness of Manx and Celtic traditions with fresh, innovative arrangements. Our debut album, The Coast Road (2022), received glowing reviews from outlets like Songlines Magazine and At The Barrier.

Teaching is something I truly enjoy, whether it’s guiding beginners through their first chords or helping experienced players refine their technique and find their unique voice. My lessons are relaxed and flexible, tailored to suit your goals and learning style.

I offer lessons in:

• Bouzouki (Irish bouzouki)

• Guitar (Folk & Accompaniment styles)

• Banjo (Tenor banjo, folk styles)

• Piano (Folk, accompaniment, and arranging)

• Traditional Music Arrangement & Composition

As a fluent Manx Gaelic speaker, I also enjoy incorporating cultural elements into lessons where desired. Whether you want to dive into traditional Manx tunes, develop your accompaniment skills, or create fresh arrangements, I’m here to help you along your musical journey.

Let’s make music together!

Teaching Style

My teaching style is relaxed, friendly, and flexible, focused on helping you reach your personal musical goals. I believe in creating a comfortable learning environment where you can develop your skills at your own pace, whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced musician looking to refine your technique.

Lessons are tailored to suit your interests, whether that’s learning traditional Manx tunes, mastering accompaniment styles, arranging pieces, or exploring creative approaches to music-making. I like to keep lessons practical and engaging, encouraging you to build confidence and find your own unique voice as a musician.

I’m also happy to bring cultural context into our lessons if you’re interested, especially when it comes to traditional Manx music and how it fits within the broader Celtic music scene. Whether you prefer learning by ear, with notation, or a mix of both, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
