Veliko Dimitrov
About
I’m Veliko Dimitrov, a passionate guitarist, music educator, and creative technologist with over 20 years of experience in music performance and instruction. Originally from Dobrich, Bulgaria, I earned a First Class Honours BM in Professional Music Performance (Guitar) from Middlesex University via the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford, UK. My musical journey began early, with a scholarship from the 2009 Sarandev International Singing Competition fueling a decade of intensive study in solfege, music theory, and classical guitar at the Private Music School "Dominanta." Since then, I’ve honed my craft across genres—electric, classical, acoustic, ukulele, and bass—while performing, producing, and teaching worldwide.
My achievements speak to my dedication: I’ve won accolades like the European Pop Rock Competition "Sarandev" (2009), Battle of the Guitarists at the Jimi Hendrix House Museum (2017), and the Regional Guitar Competition in Dobrich (2013). Beyond performance, I’ve produced music for notable artists, such as Simona Zaharieva from The Voice S4, and mentored over 150 students to success in RSL and Trinity exams with a 100% pass rate. My career also includes diverse roles—like mastering Tesla’s self-driving tech as a luxury chauffeur in London and leading franchise development in Australia—showcasing my adaptability and innovative spirit, which I bring into every lesson.
Music isn’t just my profession; it’s my passion. Whether I’m performing, recording in studios across the UK and Europe, or exploring cutting-edge AI tools like Grok 3, I’m driven by a love for creativity and discovery. I’m excited to share this journey with you, helping you unlock your potential as a guitarist and musician.
Teaching Style
Teaching Style
My teaching style is dynamic, personalized, and rooted in 20+ years of experience working with students of all ages (5–70) and skill levels—beginners to advanced players. I believe every student is unique, so I adapt my approach to suit your goals, learning pace, and musical interests. Whether you’re aiming to shred like Steve Vai, strum classical pieces, or write your own songs, I’ll break down complex concepts into clear, actionable steps that inspire confidence and progress.
I emphasize a blend of technical mastery, musical expression, and creative problem-solving. Lessons with me are interactive and engaging—I draw from my performance background to demonstrate techniques live, and I use technology (like Skype for remote sessions) to make learning accessible and fun. Having taught at Yamaha Music School and privately across Surrey and London, I’ve developed innovative methods that have guided prodigy students to national competitions and higher education. My students don’t just learn to play—they learn to feel and think like musicians.
Curriculum
eaching Method and Recommended Student Texts
My teaching method combines structured fundamentals with creative exploration, tailored to your aspirations. For beginners, we start with posture, finger placement, and foundational chords or scales, building a strong base. Intermediate and advanced students dive into intricate techniques—think fingerstyle, hybrid picking, or improvisation—alongside music theory to deepen their understanding. I integrate ear training and sight-reading (skills I mastered at Roth Academy with distinction) to sharpen your musical intuition, and I encourage songwriting or arranging to spark creativity.
I draw from a variety of trusted resources, depending on your style and goals:
-
Rock School Limited (RSL) Guitar Syllabus: Perfect for contemporary players aiming for graded exams or structured progress.
-
Trinity College London Guitar Repertoire: Ideal for classical or acoustic learners seeking a formal path.
-
Hal Leonard Guitar Method: A versatile, beginner-friendly series for building technique and repertoire.
-
Guitar Pro: For tech-savvy students, I use this software to create custom tabs and exercises tailored to your favorite songs.
