About
Welcome! I'm a dedicated trumpet instructor with over 15 years of teaching experience, committed to helping students of all levels develop confidence, skill, and musical expression. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance from San Diego State University and was honored to serve as an Education fellow at The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston—an experience that deepened both my performance and pedagogical approach.
Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of students, from absolute beginners to advanced players preparing for auditions and competitions. My goal is always to provide thoughtful, personalized instruction that meets each student where they are and supports their unique musical journey.
Teaching Style
My students often describe me as patient, encouraging, and deeply engaging. I strive to create a relaxed and inspiring environment where curiosity and creativity thrive. I believe that every student learns differently—so I make it a point to listen carefully, communicate clearly, and build confidence every step of the way. You'll never feel rushed or judged in our lessons—just supported and challenged at exactly the right pace.
Curriculum
No cookie-cutter lessons here! Each student receives a custom-tailored lesson plan designed around their goals, strengths, and musical interests. My approach blends fundamentals (like tone production, technique, and sight-reading) with expressive playing, ear training, and even a bit of music history when it fits.
Depending on your level, we may use some of the following texts:
-
Arban’s Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet
-
Clarke Technical Studies
-
Rubank Method Books (Beginner to Advanced)
-
Charlier Etudes
-
Solo repertoire, jazz improvisation studies, and orchestral excerpts as appropriate
Whether you're aiming for the concert stage, a school band spotlight, or simply to play for the love of it, I'm here to help you grow into the player you want to be.
