Matt Schultz

I have been a professional musician for 8 years, performing and recording with artists like Chapel Hart, Waterseed, Zacardi Cortez, Loren Pickford, and others across the Gulf South. I have also taught private guitar lessons for 5 years, ranging from total beginners to helping advanced students continue develop their skill sets. I hold a Bachelor's of Music in Jazz Performance on guitar from the prestigious McGill University, where I studied with Jean-Michel Pilc, John Hollenbeck, and Christine Jensen. 

I emphasize fretboard fundamentals and proper guitar technique in lessons, selecting songs that progressively build these skills. I also ensure that progress ties in with music theory concepts, so students not only build the technique to execute and perform, but that they also understand the concepts behind the performance and may then grow in confidence as improvisers and composers themselves.
