Hi, I’m Tate, aka Banjovi. Whether you are wanting to jam with friends, join a band, play with the worship team, or take your playing to a professional level. No matter the situation or level, I want to help you excel.
I'm a husband, father of four beautiful girls, and lifetime music enthusiast. I began playing the banjo over 20 years ago, and am just as excited to learn today, as I was at day one. I've had the privilege to play music in many capacities within bluegrass, country, worship music, southern rock, and more. Studio sessions, live performances, producing, writing, and teaching are my musical passions. My instruments of choice are Scruggs style banjo, electric banjo, acoustic flat-picked guitar, and electric guitar.
I teach by ear, and my goal is for you to leave every lesson challenged and encouraged to stick with it. If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to reach out. Thanks for the opportunity!
Teaching Style
The goal of playing an instrument should be to play the music that you love, that moves you. It's my opinion that the best way to do so, is to learn to play by ear. You don't want to be limited to what's written down on paper by somebody else, you want to be able to hear something, replicate, or have a musical instinct, and replicate it. I will make sure your technique is relaxed and efficient, you learn music you like, and will train your ear. The goal is to teach you how to fish, not just hand you a fish.

20+ years performing publicly including full time touring, leading worship, recording, and more.
Toured and recorded with Lindley Creek Bluegrass from 2002-2012. Playing venues such as Silver Dollar City, fairs, churches, bluegrass festivals and private events. We recorded 5 studio albums during that time period.
I started teaching private lessons around 2007 on banjo, later adding guitar and band coaching as options. I have had dozens of students at all stages of development. I also have done workshops and music camps, most recently teaching in June at the Ozark Mountain Music Camp in Branson Missouri.
In 2016 I started Revived Bluegrass and we recorded a self titled album.
In 2019 I took a position as worship leader/coordinator at the Ridge Church of Sullivan Missouri. Playing both banjo and guitar, I led and arranged weekly music until 2024. With members of my worship team, we started Broken Ridge Revival, a country and gospel group which playes frequent dates in Missouri and surrounding states.
I began a TikTok channel under the title "Banjovi" doing frequent lives and videos, gaining over 20K followers with performances and unique banjo arrangements.
