About
I am a dedicated musician, a passionate and compassionate teacher, a pianist, and a composer who successfully combines European and Canadian education, culture, and experience.
With over 30 years of excellence as a pedagogue, and over 32 years as a composer and performer, I teach piano, music theory, ear training, composition - beginners to advanced levels, voice coaching, and musical theater for beginners; I am also an appreciated accompanist for instrumentalists and singers.
I graduated from the "Gheorghe Dima" Academy of Music in 1991 (B.Mus), where I was later appointed as an Assistant Professor and, in 1998, as a University lecturer. I also hold a Master in Music (2005 from the University of Western Ontario, London, ON) and a Ph.D. in Composition with a “Magna cum Laudae” (from the "Gheorghe Dima" Academy of Music, Cluj-Napoca, Romania).
I began playing the piano at the age of four, performing as a piano-soloist with an orchestra at ten, and writing my first compositions at twelve. I have appeared as a piano-soloist with Romanian orchestras, in solo and piano-duo piano recitals. Further specialization includes a Banff Residence, attending the Career Development Program. My mentors and professors include Peter Paul Koprowski (U.W.O. Canada), as well as famous European composers, among them: Vasile Herman, Cornel Taranu, P. Krause, Eduard Terenyi, Aurel Stroe.
Teaching Style
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their best. My goal is to instill a fine sense of music appreciation while, at the same time, teaching students about the technical aspects of music. As a teacher, I am committed to providing the best teaching possible by giving my students a great start in their music journey through emphasizing the correct foundation for developing basic music skills.
During our one-on-one music classes, my students and I set high standards in preparing technique, repertoire, ear training, musical creativity, stage experience, and a fine sense of music appreciation.
Even if you or your child never play a note again after lessons end, you will not have wasted your money and time if you have learned how to allow Music to make your Life better and more fulfilling. I strongly believe that Music has the power to change lives – to enhance people's social, cultural, and spiritual lives, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression.
