About

Hi! I’m Henry (AKA Dr. Myers). I’m a cellist, teacher, and occasional writer currently living in St. Louis, Missouri. I’ve been teaching cello for well over a decade (including 5+ years virtually) and have worked with students ranging from absolute beginners to graduate performance majors. No matter your age, background, or ability level, I’d love to help you achieve your cello goals. (Emphasis on “goals”.)

Teaching Style

I teach virtual cello lessons via Zoom. Although the focus is cello instruction, I aim to incorporate aspects of music theory and history as I believe those are crucial to contextualize music education. For this, I especially draw upon my doctorate. My goal is to make lessons fun and engaging, and always centering the student's subjective experience. The student-teacher relationship should always be an exchange, not a one-way flow of information.
