About

I started learning the tuba when I was nine years old, thanks to my school’s music department where I had one-to-one lessons and played in county and regional groups. Over time, I progressed to national ensembles like the National Youth Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra Wales, and the National Youth Brass Band of Wales. Those early experiences really opened my eyes to what’s possible with music and shaped the path I’m on today. After that, I studied for a master’s degree at the Royal College of Music, where I worked with some of the world's leading musicians. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to perform with some of the UK's top orchestras—like the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Opera House, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Welsh National Opera, and more. I’ve also done recording work for films and television. Teaching is a big part of what I do now, and I love it. I’m currently working with the Tri-borough Music Hub, and I’ve also taught for music services in Ceredigion, Slough, and Lambeth. I really want to help students discover the same kind of opportunities and joy that music has given me. I teach all ages and abilities, and I always tailor lessons to fit each person’s goals and learning style. Music isn’t just about playing notes—it builds confidence, discipline, and can even help with school and university applications. I’ve seen students earn scholarships and improve their academic prospects, which is always so rewarding to witness.

Teaching Style

When it comes to teaching, I take a holistic approach. I look at each student’s personality, commitment, and goals, and choose materials and methods that work best for them. I’m big on solid technique, but I also make sure lessons are fun and motivating—after all, enjoyment is key to making progress. I’m flexible with scheduling, communicate clearly, and give the right amount of encouragement and challenge to help students grow and feel confident in their playing.

Curriculum

I offer personalised tuition on tuba, euphonium, trombone, French horn, trumpet, and cornet, as well as beginner to intermediate piano lessons and music theory coaching. I teach students of all ages and abilities—from complete beginners to advanced performers—tailoring lessons to each individual’s goals and learning style. Whether preparing for ABRSM, Trinity graded exams, competitions, or auditions, or simply learning for personal enjoyment, I provide a structured yet creative approach that balances both technical and musical development. Lessons are available both in-person and online, offering flexibility to suit your schedule. In addition to individual tuition, I provide ensemble coaching, exam accompaniment, support with sight-reading and music theory to give students a well-rounded musical education. My teaching philosophy centres on creating a positive, encouraging, and engaging environment where students feel motivated and confident to explore their musical potential. I aim to nurture not only skills but a lifelong passion for music.
