Teaching Style

My Teaching Approach

  • Structured Learning → I follow a step-by-step method, starting with blowing techniques, finger placement, and simple compositions before moving into ragas and improvisation.

  • Customized Lessons → Each student is different. I design lessons according to your level, goals, and pace (beginner / intermediate / advanced).

  • Blend of Tradition & Creativity → I teach both classical ragas and light music / film tunes, so that students can enjoy learning and stay motivated.

  • Practical + Theoretical Knowledge → Along with flute practice, I also teach the basics of Indian classical theory, rhythm (tala), and notation for better understanding.

Curriculum

My teaching method is a combination of traditional Indian guru–shishya parampara and modern structured pedagogy. I believe every student learns differently, so I customize my lessons according to the student’s level and goals.

  • Beginners: I start with correct posture, blowing techniques, breath control, and simple exercises (alankars).

  • Intermediate students: Focus is on playing ragas, improvisation, and compositions in Indian Classical as well as light music.

  • Advanced students: We work on complex ragas, advanced improvisation, and performance techniques.

I use a step-by-step progressive approach, ensuring that students not only play the notes but also understand the feel, mood (rasa), and theory behind the music.

I also encourage students to record their practice, so that I can give detailed feedback outside of class.
