Kathlene Nicole Lira
About
Hello! My name is Kathlene Nicole Lira, and I am a passionate music educator and performer with years of experience in voice, piano, and music business coaching.
🎓 Education & Training:
I studied at the Philippine National School for the Blind (Elementary and High School), where my love for music began. Later, I pursued further training and earned a Bachelor in Music Education, Major in Voice, from Yale University through Coursera, which gave me a solid foundation in both classical and contemporary music.
🎤 Professional Experience:
I have been performing since I was 7 years old, starting with birthday and wedding events, and later on larger stages. I performed with choirs and as a soloist in venues such as the Cuneta Astrodome, Heritage Hotel Manila, and various school and community events. I was often invited as a featured soloist, showcasing my range from classical pieces to modern ballads.
👩🏫 Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching private voice lessons to Filipino students of all ages, focusing on vocal technique, breathing, stage presence, and confidence building. I also specialize in music business coaching, helping aspiring artists understand how to navigate the music industry, promote themselves, and build careers as professional musicians.

💡 Teaching Style:
My approach is warm, encouraging, and student-centered. I make sure each student not only develops technique but also finds joy and confidence in their music journey. In my group classes, I provide clear explanations, visual materials, and real-life examples to make learning interactive and practical.
Teaching Style
Teaching Style In my lessons, students can expect a structured but enjoyable approach. I usually begin with breathing exercises and vocal warm-ups to build healthy vocal habits, followed by ear training and exercises to improve range, tone, and control. After technical practice, we apply skills to songs chosen based on the student’s goals and interests. I teach beginners, intermediate, and advanced singers in styles such as pop, classical, worship, and musical theater. My strengths as a teacher include patience, adaptability, and encouragement, ensuring that every student feels comfortable while progressing steadily. I also emphasize confidence, interpretation, and performance skills so that students not only sing well but also connect with their audience.
Curriculum
My teaching method focuses on a student-centered approach, combining both practical and theoretical learning. I guide students step-by-step while encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression. For voice, I use a combination of vocalization exercises, breathing techniques, and repertoire suited to each student’s level. For music business coaching, I apply real-world case studies, industry practices, and collaborative projects to help students understand how the music industry works in practice.
I also adapt my lessons for visually impaired learners, making sure all instructions and materials are accessible and easy to follow. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where every student feels confident to grow both technically and artistically.
